POST GAME [Round 17, 2026] - Broncos vs Roosters

I get that we want Mozer to be the next best thing since sliced bread, but if he is truly going to be the best 9 in the game surely he wouldn’t be a bench booker at QCup level and should be able to get us going against tiring players at the back end of the game?
It depends... coaches typically want to spend 1 interchange at hooker... if you start your best hooker off the bench they can be the one that finishes the game, whilst still playing the most minutes at hooker.

If you start your best hooker they either have to play 80mins or you spend 2 subs at hooker so you can finish the game with your best hooker on the field.

Realistically the best rotation at hooker in the current game (assuming they can't play 80mins effectively) is to start with your best defending hooker to take the initial physicality and at 30mins sub on your best hooker to finish out the game.

So in that situation your bench hooker is actually getting more minutes at the position than the starter...

When the Roosters kicked off the second half Walsh was walking very slowly to towards the corner post with his back to the kick. He turned around when the ball was coming down.

Broncos are up 16-12 just heard from your coach and need a win.

The set ended with Walsh kicking it into the back of a Bronco and Broncos are under pressure again. Billy Smith scores two minutes later.
He's not been with it all season. He's obviously very content with how 2025 went and doesn't feel the need to care anymore.

Well…Mozer had the chance to ice the game last night, but instead gave away a penalty and was ineffective in defence despite being fresh. I keep waiting for his ‘greatness’ to be shown, but it is lacking. I reckon Bukowski showed more in his one game than Mozer has in his limited appearances.

I don’t care if he’s the next best thing, he’s better than our current 9 in every single way. That’s enough for me.

I think you're being extremely harsh with Mozer. He did pretty well in his 26 mins of game time.

Unquestionably his service was much better than Paix's. He even ran from dummy half, like good dummy halves do! Paix had 2 runs in 54 ****ing minutes.

The penalty was just unlucky and he only missed one tackle. You must have watched a different game.

Not all missed tackles are the same, just like not all tackles are the same. Mozer was being driven back by the Roosters forwards a fair few times when making tackles. I think he has a lot of promise, but I can see why he is not first choice also.

MM might be able to add Spoon to his resume after this season. With him continuing with this roster is where it's heading. 25 off season was the time to rebuild . This team is on the skids. I mean how many more 35+ yr olds do the brains trust at the ****ing Broncos, need to buy to even make us a competitive side again ?.Just defies logic.

A prime example of why this team is completely cooked..... 🤬🤬

Your only argument is that he was driven back whilst defending?

Isn’t one of the requirements of a hooker to be strong in defence?
I'd say the biggest requirement is being able to pass accurately and in a timely fashion, then I suppose defending in the middle is a small part of their game that they should be alright at. But no, it's not the main part of a hookers job.

I feel like Mozer is a spot player where they'll work him over due to his size for a few tackles to create momentum then play off the back of it. He's pretty slight. He doesn't seem to miss many but gets dominated a bit.

I think Paix is a better defender but even with him there we are still weak as shit up the middle. Understand Mozer's service is better but Mozer won't fix our weak middle. Billy is our best defender for our current crop of 9s by a mile. Smoothy was good too.

From what I've seen of Mozer his defense is willing enough but he's technique is terrible. With the ball he has potential but I don't think it's enough. He's not super fast and he's not super fit so what is he offering?

A few takeaways:

No more ball playing lock. Idk why in the 2nd half Haas was ball playing, when we literally needed go forward like in the first half.

When we had PRIKI/Haas and Talty on we had the fast ruck speed. And no longer needed a lock to create space. Which lead to a lot of pressure on the Roosters and eventually a few tries.

JGos stayed on for far too long. He should've been interchanged for PRiki.

Even when X came off after 10 minutes or so. PRiki played the additional time anyway.

Haas went the full 80.
Priki could've played 30 then JGos for 20 then PRiki again for 30.
Talty would've only needed to play for 20, then Aublix could've played 30 (Over the half), with Talty playing the remainder of the game.

Instead, Madge choose JGos to play the MOST minutes behind Haas at prop. He was gassed.

Mozer probably should've come on 5-10 minutes earlier too, especially after that long back and forth stint.

Just some of the interchange and strategies left me a bit baffled.
