THE BOSS Maguire Stomped The Naysayers! But...8 Months Later, Here We Are.

It's certainly been a shit show of a defence, even the other premiers that fell apart on the field I can't remember so much drama.

Dogs 95- 96-10th
Dogs 04- 05-12th
Tigers 05-06-11th

I lay somewhere in the middle, I don't think the world is over, but I also don't think you can ignore staff leaving, players leaving, players arrested and coming near last/losing seven games in a row and just think it's all an act of God.

That seven is the worst losing streak by a premiers- "beating" 05 Bulldogs 6 in a row.

I find it strange we are now in July tomorrow and the premiers coach hasn't signed an extension. The Board extended Kevvie in March 24 and he wasn't even off contract- he didn't get to coach that extension but at the start of 24 he was locked in until 26. I don't know if the board are being wary after previous payouts. But if that was the case that would say something too.
It is clearly Cameron Smith’s fault.

What happened to our GM of football? Surely there is someone out there who can be hired to do an overview of our pathways and R&R and give it the overhaul it needs.

I'm looking forward to Coby Black's debut.

It's going to be like Chernobyl.

Bulldogs 95-96 was the closest comparison I could think of. A team that had been up there for years, were falling apart mid-year, pulled themselves together and happened to be the best team on the day. The collapse the following year was expected.

I can see some 2005 here, if only in the way the game is played and how it led to a lot of blow-outs.

If Brisbane had have won in 23, I would have been comparing them to the Tigers. A team that had one crack, made the most of it and fell apart after an expansion club came in and took a couple of their best players. Injuries and questionable recruitment also in the mix.

I’d like to see you explain how, just because I’m curious.
**** off. I thought you don’t engage with homophobic sexist racist xenophobes. Sproj told us to drop it so if you don’t like it chuck me on ignore you ****ing sook.

We cannot let the coaching job become a revolving door. That is a theme of regularly bottom 8 teams. At some stage, you just have to bite the bullet and accept your playing group has a culture problem that needs to be addressed.

Again, I think it's pretty telling that the one bloke who has been the most consistent for us over the past 5 years is the guy that is leaving. It would not surprise me at all to hear that Haas doesn't have much problem with Madge at all and is just fed up with (literally?) carrying whimsical plodders on his back.

But would going to souths negate that. I can partly agree but………

Assuming Maguire is a short term hire, the next choice of coach is such a big decision imo.. Even though it has been a bit of a revolving door in recent years, you could also argue that Walters and Maguire were / are quite specific choices to what the club needed at that time..

I reckon whoever comes in next needs to be someone who’s built to be a 10+ year coach.. I don’t know who the **** that is at the moment, but the Broncos need to find them

The problem is though, whomever that is will have to have some thick skin and be able to handle the pressure of the media. Madge literally won a comp, you’d think that would give him some breathing space. However, January rolls along and the media are already getting stuck into him and haven’t relented at all.

Our old boys are just as toxic. They’d rather see Kevvie go down with a sinking ship than see literally anyone else have success.

I reckon the only one that may be able to handle it might be Brad Thorn, but is he willing to do it? I really don’t know who else is out there that could handle the job. Maybe, Matt Ballin, he’s been inside the walls for a good half a decade now.
