FOOTBALL FIFA World Cup 2026

I really want Norway to win the lot now. I can't believe I'm saying it about a city player, but I just absolutely love Haaland. Hope Argentina are knocked out ASAP

I know it's hard to say a team that had a 2-goal lead was robbed, but farout Argentina got some favorable calls again. Egypt should have done better at 2-0 for sure, but..

Egypt coach has unloaded on the whole tournament. Explaining it doesn't do it justice but he basically finished it with "... if they just wanted Argentina to win, why did they invite the rest of us to participate?"

He might find himself in a bit of trouble I dare say, but well said!
**** FIFA they've shown they're corrupt.

Whoever reversed the red card suspension should've resigned along with making that decision

Personally I'm always of the opinion that while the refs can be blamed for isolated calls, teams will generally be able to look back and go yeah we ****ed it there, there and there.

Refs will obviously always influence the game in either direction, but I've always played with the temperament that ultimately if you make the right decisions and take your opportunities, the ref is irrelevant. Egypt were 2-0 up, they had every reason to ice the game but didn't for whatever reason. The ref didn't throw the ball in the net for Argentina 3 times.

Seriously though, I didn't think the Belgium win would be beaten in terms of bonkersness but here we are.

He's going to strap Konsa and Guehi to his back. Should be a great game.

Finally got the Henry cup.

The set is complete.

Tbf, i think they have a point. VAR went very far back to find a foul to cancel out the third Egypt goal, then didnt do the same thing for the Argentina goal. A third goal for Egypt when it happened would have killed off the game,

I dont get into the conspiricy theories, but with Argentina this tournament i wouldnt put anything past Infantino and Fifa.

I dunno, I just always play to the whistle and never bother arguing with the ref. When have you ever seen a ref change their mind? It's how I've always played and how I view the game. You can get absolutely mad at refs decisions but you just gotta get on with it. They were still ahead at the time and in the end just got run down and ran out of legs. It happens.

I don't bother with conspiracy theories because otherwise why enjoy anything ever? Same deal with NRL.

They did play to the whistle, but then VAR get involved. When you go back so far in the move for that third Egypt goal, but dont do that same thing for the Argentina goal it negates playing to the whistle because decisions like that change the momentum of games. I cant remember who said it now, but they hit the mark when they said if they went back any further on that Egypt move Tutankhamun would have been involved. All the fans want is consitency.

VAR is a blight on the game. It influences games in the wrong way. Argentina dont come back from a third goal.

We're arguing different points. I have mixed feelings on VAR but that is an aside. Egypt were still 2-0 up regardless of the VAR decision and blew it. That's the cold reality. Should they have been 3-0? Maybe. Did they blow a 2 goal lead which was ultimately their undoing? Yes.

They did blow a 2 goal lead but my original point was they are 100% correct that VAR robbed them. These decisions change games so its not as simple as just saying the blew a lead. VAR got involved and took a goal away from them, then VAR didnt get involved to look at a possible penalty in their favour in the same play Argentina scored the winner from. I dont see how anyone can think they havent been dudded by the officials.

As i said, if there was any consistency, They would have had a penalty instead of Argentina scoring a winner. As usual with VAR, its one rule for one, and one rule for another. I personally dont think it was a penalty, i dont think it was a foul on Martinez either as the contact for both was minimal, but if you give one, you give both. If you go back over 20 seconds to check a passage of play for one team, you do the same with the other.

I dont have a single mixed feeling about VAR. Its the single worst thing thats ever happened to football. If the people who pay good money to watch games had their way, it would be scrapped.
