2026 NRL General Discussion Thread

They gutted the depth but they could have been proactive and still fixed it. I imagine they were probably overconfident, but the premiership window should have still been open.
They barely won the premiership as it was, we'll never know but they obviously didn't want any distractions.

Even the Reynolds re-signing would have been to keep him focused and happy.

I wonder if the Reyno extension was a bit about also keeping him in Brisbane to take up an assistant role next year.

If Broncos don't sign him and he's hell bent on playing on... then who says Uncle Wayne doesn't give him a call for a swansong at rabbits... he clearly needs a ****ing 7 in that squad and Wayne is going all out for a one off premiership.

All of a sudden he's back in Sydney and he packs everyone up to head down south again... suddenly we lose a guy that could be the halves coach for the next decade plus.

The Bhunt deal makes no sense though.

I don't necessarily think Bhunt would be a great coach moving forward and he's looked well done for all of this year ... except that 2nd half vs titans when Reece and Reyno both went down... unfortunately he also went down after that game with a Grade 3 MCL.

I don't know what role he plays next year as a 350 gamer... is he going to turn out for Wynnum or sit on the bench in the 19 jersey all year... because he can't play the hooker/lock role that he was lined up for this year, and I'm not sure he's bringing more than Pezet or Duffy to get that 7 spot over them all of next year.
