Agree regarding Staggs.
Willison needs to stay on the bench though for all the reasons mentioned by others. If we can get over some of the niggles and not need to carry a back on the bench, Hetherington, Willison & Te Kura (once given more time) will be an insane bench.
Melbourne don't need a controlling halfback, the ref gifts them all the field position and momentum they'll ever need. That's how they are able to play with 3 fullbacks in their spine
A year or two ago we were calling for him to get more involved, the end of last season and even more so this season he has improved out of sight. I don't care if he's not barging through 3 defenders to score, if he keeps taking those tough carries and winning the rucks for us he is doing a great...
Willison, the Dolphins were making him make repeat efforts but he was making 2 & 3 consecutive tackles and helping dominate every one of them. He is way too raw to be a starter but he is the perfect impact middle and I was surprised how comfortable he seemed even after decent minutes.
And...
Sooo... As much as I don't like positional switches in-game, but how about Carrigan defending on the edge (Willison in the middle), then swapping in attack? Patty's ball-playing stays intact, Willison can line up the smaller men in attack, but defensively should be quite tight.
He's not going to risk two (effectively) rookie props on the bench. Could give us massive impact, but also end up complete liabilities if defending for long. And definitely none of them starting. Big Ben had one of the better prop debuts I have seen but he was only in because X was out, they...
Have Patty run it up on the right of the ruck, with Te Kura or Willison off his shoulder. Riki and Staggs up as well but further out to keep the defensive line spaced out.
Have both Ben/X and Riki line up Kodi, if he's isolated he'll either be speedbumped or at the very least dragged for a half...
Paps too. We had him pinned a couple of times and as soon as contact is made he flails himself to the ground and immediately tries to play it, but it should be called a surrender tackle. When the defender attempts to prevent him from moving forward or playing it off the mark (which they have the...
We are in an amazing position where we have two monsters needing blooding, both of which are too young to play a full season so we can rotate them maybe 3 games NRL, 3 games QCup, until finals time and we just open the gates and unleash them both to tear every other pack apart.
Or because the show actively pushes biased agendas on the presenters and even though the integrity pool is already shallow, they have to dive to the bottom to get people willing to be turned in to puppets.
You have to remember that those years they had looser interchange rules (unlimited in 2000?) so you could throw a fresh player out there for 5 minutes and not have to risk having them fatigue and end up exposed. Oates won't have that luxury, if it's a hard grind with both sides fatiguing (or...
Our makeshift left back row did well against the Cowboys, but no one does their homework better than the Storm. We all know how much of an Oates fan I am, but I can't help but think he'll be pulled apart by them if he comes on with the game in the balance in that position.
Like the Milford situation, a couple of hearsay comments is not enough to confirm that someone is lazy. But when they keep coming out from different sources and the results show in the field, the evidence weights up.
I think we're starting to see the same with Mitchell & Walker. Burgess'...
