Yeah I got the chance to walk out onto the centre of the field earlier this year - looked a very nice stadium. Can imagine all the noise would stay well contained as well.
Origin should remain the property of Queensland and New Souths Wales. Take Test matches, club games, trials and even the Grand Final to new territory as part of expansion but Origin should not be sold around.
Can handle the odd game in Melbourne but nothing more.
Fair points Alec. Was too busy thinking about our pack that I overlooked the fact that the likes of Creagh, Farah, Williams and Tamou will have to handle the barrage of Queenslanders heading their way.
And you're right, there is NO spark on the NSW bench apart from TRex's size which I doubt...
It's a strong team on paper but funny things can happen in Origin and any hint of complacency will get found out.
As I said in the other thread, the lack of footwork and agility in the pack could be an issue. Especially considering NSW are obviously going to attempt to play an up-tempo game...
Speculation on the FoxSports site that the side will be:
Billy Slater, Darius Boyd, Greg Inglis, Justin Hodges, Brent Tate, Johnathan Thurston, Cooper Cronk, Matt Scott, Cameron Smith (c), Petero Civoniceva, Sam Thaiday, Nate Myles, Ashley Harrison. Interchange: Matt Gillett, Ben Hannant, Dave...
We would have won if Gillett had tackled Matai a few times. We would have won if our goal line defence wasn't as sloppy as it was.
And playing devil's advocate, say Parker slots his first kick.. the whole dynamics of the game change from that point in anyway. Who knows where it would have ended up.
Agreed. Did some freaky stuff with the ball in hand but his defence was hopeless. Didn't know where to position himself, no line speed either.
Also, great to see Griffin getting value out of Anderson on the bench. May as well only select 16..
We'll need McCullough to really play well to win tonight. He needs to take as much pressure off Hunt and Norman as possible - Manly will try and besh 'em out of the game.
On the topic of halves, the biggest threat to Queensland is Carney at five-eighth. In the past few years, some NSW players (in particular playmakers) have really gone into their shell in Origin but I don't think the pressure of Origin will faze him at all. He's got that infectious confidence...
Can't really say I've experienced 'the worst' - most are just pretty knock-about sorta blokes. Heck, even Craig Bellamy was approachable enough and generous with his time.
But from memory I reckon Matt Gillett is the pick. Come across as a really respectful, polite, down to earth guy...
Saw it coming. Right decision at this point in time, good to see that the club has high standards and the balls to make a call like this when someone isn't living up to them.
Hopefully he learns from it though, he's a talent on the field. Big shame that he couldn't find success here, the club...
Capewell's top of the pile when it comes to QCup but has, to this point, always looked out of his depth at NRL level.
Be interesting to see how the Broncs use him off the bench (if they use him at all).
The Warriors often have those moments of ridiculous momentum where they roll through and destroy sides in a 15/20 minute period. I actually thought we did pretty well to combat it - Beale's hands were the only things that really let us down.
We paniced a little bit towards the end though...
I'd go with Brizz's team for sure. And I think Civ will definitely get a spot. Be interesting to see what will happen with the 'utility' position, the good thing in the past with Cronk/Berrigan on the bench is that they were tough enough to defend in the backrow. Not sure DCE is good enough to...
