If Thurston is out then the balance has to be right. Morgan and DCE are right side players same as Cronk, Milford and Munster prefer the left same as Thurston.

Queensland have had a very good balance with Cronk and Thurston, both play on their side and Boyd or Slater swing around. Cronk controls the overall field position and direction with Thurston creating opportunities and numbers.

They're both capable of getting into first receiver and setting up the forwards. I'd like to see someone in six who can fit that the best.

When DCE has been given a go he's struggled to adapt to "Cronk's team" which is fair enough. I'd go Munster, more robust defender, knows Cronk, Slater and Smith and won't overplay or change too much.

Keep Morgan on the bench.

They were talking to Walters on ABC Grandstand today and it sounds like there could be a potential war brewing between him and Bennett.

He was talking about Thurston being given until Sunday to prove his fitness for game one.

he also was talking about the possibility of Milford being drafted in as cover (he did mention Munster as well) and said that unfortunately the Broncos were playing on Saturday and it would be difficult to play against the Warriors and then back up for Origin on Wednesday.

the way he was talking, sounded like if Milford is drafted in to cover Thurston, he would not be released to play the Warriors, which means he could have to miss the Warriors game and the Origin (if Thurston is cleared to play).

The question is whether Bennett actually has a right to deny Milford going to camp as cover (given the rule about Origin selections and missing the next club game should the player not be released by his club)

p.s. none of the grandstand commentators picked Roberts in their NSW teams

I lean towards Bennetts thinking. Kev wants his cake and eat it, I would say if Thurston isn't right by Friday then a few days won't make the difference for his type of injury. Walters shouldn't get to **** us around like that, SoO is important but it's not the only show in town.

It might not matter if NSW stick with their mtr eating softcock pack. If they leave out Vaughn they are nuts and having Woods, Merrin and Fifita in the pack would not be scaring any of our guys.

If selecting a Queensland SoO team was common sense then Nate Myles wouldn't be there. There's a massive chance that neither of them start. You know how much of a boner Walters has for the Cowboys brigade, don't be surprised if O'Neill and Cooper are both there.

Still think we need Oates on the wing with our pack's lack of meterage. Don't understand the fwappage for Holmes. He's promising but I suspect there is a reason Sharks bought Dugan.

Re Milford. Origin takes priority. Need to take the long view that even origin camp will probably do his development a world of good. Maybe give him incentive to just drive by the next KFC he sees.

If Milford plays can't be exposed to first 20-30 minutes. Morgan starts at 6 then moves to lock when Milford comes on. Cronk is used to running the show without a strong ballplaying 6. Daley Money Pearce Evans will just get in the way. Munster wouldn't be a saboteur if picked. Don't mind him as 18th man.

I'd argue that Sims has been better than Lawrence this season, if Kev isn't considering Wallace for whatever reason I think Sims would do a good job adding some aggression for QLD off the bench.
