That Parramatta-Canterbury game is a tough sell. If they played as well as they did last time, it could be an amazing coup. However, the Bulldogs have built a reputation of only turning up when they're a fools chance of playing in the finals. At least Bankwest Stadium will look good on TV.

North Queensland-Brisbane makes sense for the first Friday game. I never understood why they went away from the North Qld-Brisbane season opener, always drew a great crowd and usually delivered a memorable contest.

Manly-Melbourne should be a cracking game, I just wish it was played somewhere other than Lottoland.

There was a time Eels vs Bulldogs would have been one of the matches of the round. They had a great rivalry when I was growing up. Even in the early 2000's they produced some highly entertaining matches.

Those days are long over.

For the last 20 years, Canberra have hardly ever had Friday night games, and now that they're looking the best they have in ages, they get slugged with the shitty early kick-off.
