FOOTBALL 2022 FIFA World Cup

Not sure if this is the right thread, but probably one of if not the greatest world cup player of all time, and one of the greatest players in history, Pele, reportedly moved to palliative care. People throw the word Legend around way to frivolously in my opinion, but Pele is one of the few who actually warrant the title. So sad if he cant pull through this.
Time catches up even with the best of us.

Giroud overtakes Henry as France's leading goal-scorer.

France currently up 1-0, but I don't think Poland have been that bad in this game. If they can be a bit more clinical, they'll give themselves a good chance.

There was nothing wrong with that tackle.

Ref was very harsh giving a yellow.

Well you give Mbappe that much time and space in the box, he's going to make you pay.

Poland have been poor since the start of this second half.

And Mbappe makes Poland pay again for giving him too much time and space in the box. Right in the top right corner.

That's a handball.

Penalty to Poland.

And if they didn't give Mbappe so much time and space, this could have been the equalizer..

Lloris miles off his line and the penalty is being retaken..

Lewandowski absolutely butchers the first penalty but lucky for him Lloris was off his line so he re-takes it and gets it the second time around.

Rashford dropped to the bench for this one.

Boo.

Sterling returning home effective immediately due to a family matter.

In the limited time Kuol got for Australia, he looked good.

Why didn't he get more time? I do question some of the decisions Arnold made in this WC.

He is not everyone's cup of tea but Giroud is one of the most underrated strikers of the last 20 years.

I don't support any of the clubs he has played at but its hard to not respect his career. Won trophies everywhere he's gone but more importantly always contributes to the team and makes the players around him better.

Croatia vs Japan coming up soon.

This is a match-up I've been looking forward to since Japan went through. On paper, you would say Croatia have this in the bag, but Japan have produced two of the biggest upsets in the tournament so far coming from behind against both Germany and Spain winning 2-1. This one could go either way.

If Japan are down 1-0 at half time, look out.. In both matches against Germany and Spain, Japan were down 1-0 at the break.
