2024 State of Origin discussion

So we are a good chance at losing Walsh, Haas, Carrigan, Mam and maybe Jensen and Staggs on top of our million injuries, wowsers.

Dearden isn't electric but his style suits Origin imo

It will really suck if we lose Mam to 18th man

It will between Mam and Dearden to replace Munster ... and Mam is by far playing the better footy in a better team. he should 1000% be picked, but i don't like his chances.

I`ve watched a bit of Dearden this season .
He might not have the highlights reel Ezra does , but he has been a stand out in the Cowboys team .
He is a safer defender than Ezra that will count in his favour .

18th man is a genuine chance of playing with the upgraded concussion protocols, so I genuinely think they'll have someone more versatile than Mam. Especially if Hunt is on the bench as he can cover 6, 7 or 9. Someone like Capewell who can cover forwards and backs, or Brimson who can cover 1-6. Mam is not versatile enough IMO.

I would pick Dearden over Mam tbh, but it depends on what style of attack Billy is looking for, Mam looks good as an option if you have Cobbo playing left Centre, Mam is alot different too how Dearden plays, Dearden is more safe defensively I would say and is more effort, but Mams attacking options are not touched by any 6 in the game when he is on, and he is always there for backup on breaks combined with his insane speed it makes trys happen.

Dearden makes more sense, but Mam is in form has more ups but comes with more risks too.
That said, Mam seems to be a big game player, was elite in his first few games(when the pressure would be at it's highest) and the GF especially, maybe he is the big game specialist ideal for origin.

I think Taulagi played his way into a jersey last couple weeks... and Val might be the one to miss out.

1. Walsh
2. Taulagi
3. Hammer
4. Cobbo
5. Coates

Dearden looked pretty poor last night as well... a lot of balls going to ground off his passes and Drinkwater was the one setting up tries down his edge.

I think Dearden is the front runner, but I'm not sure Billy blindly picks him if he's just not in form. Ezra might be a real chance if he has a big game on Sunday

Cobbo won't be picked as a center. They will go with holmes if he is available. Taulagi will miss out

Cobbo won't be picked as a center.

Dunno about that J .
Picking on form ? Cobbo .
Picking tried and true ? Valentine .
Some hard choices for Bill come Sunday evening .

Got to remember goal kicking. Is Walshs injury good enough to kick goals?

I like Dearden and I'd go with him. But Slater does seem good at putting the most talented guys in and getting the best out of them so maybe Mam is an outside chance. Happy either way. And I think Tualagi has to be in the side, he is a beast.

NSW would be crazy to not pick Latrell imo. But I think he'll carve up Parra and secure his spot. If he has Suaalii outside him that is a scary combo.
