2025 Dally M Awards

I honestly cant think of somebody that had a better year than Tedesco. The margin is pretty funny but he played every game I think.

It shouldnt be done by points. I say this every year. Broken record. Do it like the NBA.

Terrell May had a better year than AFB imo. Alot of the media really dont like that bloke. Usually when you poll that high you get rewarded.

how does the NBA do it

how does the NBA do it
100 odd media members give their 5 4 3 2 1 mvp. They have a points system but it is done at the end of the year not game by game. They reward players in winning teams much more. There is no chance a ayer like Tedesco would have won in their system. Usually have to be a top 4 seed at worst in your conference.

So coming 8th out of 16 teams would be pushing it. Would have to be carrying a bunch of bums on your team in the nba to win it that low. The roosters still have alot of handy players.

People getting worked up for no reason.

The team of the year is based on Dally M votes/leaderboard.
If Katoa finished higher than Cleary he would've been halfback of the year.
There is no sentimental or agenda driven winners.
So yes, Critter and Staggs polled more votes because Herbie missed too many matches.

The whole Dally M system is flawed as it rewards middle of the pack teams with one superstar who takes majority of the votes and you basically need a full season without injury or suspension

Bring on Sunday

It would work out fine. There is a heap of smart people around. They just dont have the loudest voices.

That cant be correct. May finished higher than AFB didnt he so it cant be being done strictly by points

It makes sense that a player from a lower placed team would win it... otherwise Locky would have had 15 Dally m's....

If you're competing for points against a team of shit players, being a good players means more points for you

its science
A quick way to start fixing it is to stop giving players on the losing team so many points.

When rorters lose by 14 and they look at Teddy's stats and see he ran for 200m they're like... "yeah he was rorters best I'll give him 2pt points for losing"

The judges seem to always go... 3pts player from the winning team and then give someone from the losing team 1 or 2 points.

It seems rare for a team to sweep all the votes unless they win by like 40... and even then some idiot will give a point to someone because "jeez they tried hard".

Fair enough if it's a close loss, but they dont always have to give points to someone from the losing team.

I think the most fair way is to give each player a score out of 10 after each game , added up over the whole season, but it relies heavily on the judges properly thinking about it rather than just going with the 3 players they recognise.

Its an imperfect system for sure..

as i said earlier, if it was perfect locky would have had 15

I still havent seen who people would have given this years award to if it wasnt Tedesco?

Im still thinking and I dont have a good answer. Im trying to think of a raider who really stood out over Tedesco and cant. No Bulldog, storm have alot of guys that all missed time and share credit. Haas maybe but yeah I dont know.

Previous years I think its been relatively clear. Cant believe Shaun Johnson didnt win it the Ponga year.

By this I assume it's assumed the Haas won the Dally M

he's the best, most valuable player in the sport
