2025 NRL Player Movements & Rumours

A report from Badel, Read and Carayannis that Dylan Brown has informed his team mates that he intends to leave the Eels at the end of the season.

The reporting is that he is on the verge on signing the richest deal in NRL history and will ink a $13 million, 10 year deal with the Knights.

Yes, it's been all the chatter on SEN today. The consensus was that Brown should get up to Newcastle as fast as he can and ink that deal. It's prob 500k a year more than his top end and that's being generous.
It's a lot of cash but he is also signing away any chance of a premiership.

His manager should get a little extra for pulling that off.

On a side note how can they afford Ponga as well? Where is the outrage and questioning of their cap.

They're saying that signing Brown will keep Ponga at the club, but I doubt that it would... can definitely see him agitating for a release and then all of a sudden Brown is spearheading a wooden spoon team

Insane money and makes no sense unless the Knights already know that Kp is gone, in which case they’d still need to go out and get a proper 7.

A spine of Crossland, brown, sharpe, Kp ain’t winning anything and will struggle to contend for 8th

Newy are off their meds with that deal, especially after his performance yesterday. The fact this has all broken out now shows his agent isn't confident of that value holding for much longer either.

Parra are bottom 4 bound for at least the next 4-5 games while Moses is out, they would be desperate as hell to get pen to paper.

I'd imagine this was playing on his mind a lot yesterday, hence his lack of involvement. Dumb deal by the Knights IMO and I think this will see Ponga move on in the next year or so.

Cap gets bigger each year . This year`s 1.3 mil is 2030`s 900 K or less ?
Depends a lot on the get out clauses the Knights write into the contract .

I believe ( NRL 360) he has ratchet clauses to increase his contract as the cap goes up but capped at 1.4mil no matter how much the cap goes up.

Brent Read was saying on NRL360 that Brown has ratchet clauses in his new contract ... so his contract increases as the cap increases

Knights can't help but try and hedge their prospects on one player, thinking they'll be the next Joey

Yeah he was saying that at Vegas but also said it's capped at $1.4m, but they've just been focussing on the ratchet clause ever since
