Luai doesn't look like a halfback, because he can't give his outside men room.
His most effective play is stepping off his left back into traffic, but Samoa's left side is their strongest with Nanai, Mariner and To'o... and they're up against Foran, Timoko and Isaako. Luai has been trash at getting them any ball.
Talagi has been far better at creating some space for his right side, but Tago and Taulagi have zero speed out there

Thought with Junior coming back on that Payne would get a break... but nope he's still out there.
Gardiner clearly didn't watch much of the broncos this year... I think Payne averaged around 60min or so and his second stint was usually his strongest.
He only played 80 when Patty wasn't there... just because he can play 80 doesn't mean that he should

The wingers should be swapped side imo, Murray is a right hand carry who only ever plays on the left, To'o has played both sides extensively and has played plenty with Tago next to him.

Yeah I was surprised to see Taulagi on the right.
He's pretty much exclusively left side at the cows... even now that Feldt is gone from that wing... and despite the right arm carry he's extremely good at finishing on the left.

Ben gardiner. Assistant coach at the Panthers (soon to be Mal's assistant at the bears). You'd think the familarity with Luai and Too would help but nooo.
