2025 Pre-season discussion. The Madge dynasty begins.

Time will ultimately tell......it might all just end up as smoke and mirrors, but the new coaching staff really feels like a step up and a move in the right direction by the club.

Talk is cheap tho........

What I like about that coaching staff is it's mostly based on the technical aspects of footy rather than feels and vibes.... Outside of potentially Teo, but that's only because I havent heard much from him

Ballin was under Dessie right when wrestling became the meta... his game was all about defence and he was a no frills player. He should work well with Madge.

Barrett whilst failing as a head coach is from all reports a good attacking footy mind... I think he is the most important in the direct coaching support staff, because he will be the attack whereas Madge will be the defence.

I dont think Barrett and Kevvie wouldve worked, because they're both attack and potentially conflicting in terms of style (Barrett being structured whereas Kevvie is free flowing), but who would've been looking after defence in that setup.

Ben Te’O other than Madge is the best name there. I have only ever heard excellent things about Ben so not disappointed that a bloke that is not only a by all reports good coach but had seen pretty much everything across 2 different codes is in our ranks. Barrett will be the head assistant coach but Te’O will be so good for us. I think he compliments Madge very well.

So basically Madge wants Hunt and Hunt wants to come here and I think there's probably been talks happening, pretty confident he will end up here.
Some of the hookers are probably going to get moved on.
Staggs definitely staying.
Cobbo came back not in the best shape but good attitude, I do hope Madge takes him in and makes him a beast.

It does sound like Cobbo might be the odd man out if anyone is at all.
 
Great committment from Payne showing up today to tough it out. I heard Madge was also impressed with Cobbo giving it a red hot crack. Good signs for your fellas.

I have heard the gears are most definitely turning regarding Hunt signing with Brisbane. I reckon Madge just can't believe his luck with Hunt suddenly becoming available.

I would have you blokes 2nd favourites for 2025 if (once) Hunt signs on.

We're going to have to cut some people loose though.
Between Madden, Rogers, Paix, Walters and Smoothy we need to move on at least 2.

I didn’t really get that impression from Madge tbh. Spoke glowingly about him and sounds keen to improve him as a player.

I’ve got a weird feeling we could keep both of them, don’t know how that adds up cap-wise considering Hunt is looking like a real possibility also but fk it aha
