2025 Pre-season discussion. The Madge dynasty begins.

It makes you wonder about the safety of intense physical training in the sort of heat and humidity in Brissy ATM at 1:30 pm.
Seems pretty stupid TBH.
I'm all for a tough pre-season, but surely player welfare is an issue in these conditions in the middle of the day.

What players weren't at training and why is my question to everyone... there seemed to be a few players I didn't see in the training photos that I'm not sure why they wouldn't be...
I think official preseason starts in December when all available top 30 guys have to be there.

I think the early ones are meant to be for the fringe guys, but there does look to be a decent contingent of top 17 guys there.

Haas, Cobbo, Mozer, Jensen (assume he still hasnt left the gym), Willison, Piaks (looked like he was in the rehab group).

Riki, Patty and Mariner on international duty

Walsh may or may not be there?? (haven't been looking too closely at the photos) he's been training so I'd assume he's around.

Think I've seen Smoothy there... Has Jesse been there?

Staggs might be around the rehab group

Reynolds I think would be Dec 1... he keeps himself in good shape so no need to flog him... but Madge will have something lined up leading into Christmas when they break again.

I think post Christmas is usually when the ball comes back out

Des Hasler is going through court after a Manly player named Keith Titmus died during preseason training in extreme heat a cpl of seasons ago .
I doubt they will risk a repeat of that ...
Likely a pre-existing issue. Should be happy they weeded that out before they signed a bigger contract

As much as it’s sad Titmus died he is an exception not the rule.

This pussy view on hard work and the environment of hard work is why this group of players and this club is so shit. We wonder why this club loses all its day games and it’s because they can’t handle the sun. Toughen up.

It’s not gonna happen every session they fight through the pain early and don’t complain they will likely have earned the right to not train in the middle of the day. Great lesson that you have to work hard for reward. The single most important principle in the entire non-communist world.

I can guarantee you just about every single one of them would be stuck on a job site in that heat if it wasn’t for footy.

Risk will be managed appropriately by the club. If it’s not a minute risk the players are willing to take they can take themselves elsewhere.

Crazy part is Hunt and Reynolds are the same age. Reynolds just looks so much older on field, its weird
Yeah but Reynolds has had alot more injuries which have taken its toll, it's probably why Cam Smith was able to go as long as he did even in the middle because he barely got big injuries.

I have faith the medical staff are going to be keeping track of the players core temp to avoid any repeats of what happened to Titmus.
