2025 Pre-season discussion. Training the house down.

Yeh....if i stop squinting....theres very little there isn there...

I wonder if this is the season where the "feel-good" signing of our summer was Ben Hunt...

...where as the signing the team "needed" was a NRL standard second rower...?

Gos broke his arm before he could establish himself .
Hunt showed some promise then got injured as well . Lets see them have an injury free run and see what they can do . Hunt was very good last weekend .

Hunt was diabolically true to form the weekend before. He had flashes of promise last year, but also flushes of turd.

I agree but if you can’t succeed in the NRL with a makeshift second rower amidst a team of star talent, you aren’t a real coach.

Squeezing one good season out of a second row, centre, or bench prop is the stuff that coaches like Belly and Wayne show up to work for.

Yes, if Madge could tool Jensen, Willison, Te Kura or Taupau into a short stint edge, we'd be giggling.

if nas can play on a edge i dont think it would be a stretch for te kura or willison
The holy grail is the second rower/centre. Like Capewell. Our cupboard of decent outside backs is pretty well stocked. Imagine having a beast like Leota come off the bench. Still lots of questionmarks over him, but **** he's a monster.

I think ezra will be welcomed back partly for his speed.

Defenders will always be watching for the pass or kick from Arey and Bhunt. Ezra brings the running game as well.

Imagine the left edge when Arey floats. Hunt into Arey, with Ezra and Walsh as running threats.

If we also had second rowers who can run a good line the defence wouldn't know where to look.

Attackers will always be looking for Ezra defending on the edge.

It's the second rowers job to be there and assist the 6.

Having a half that can defend is great, but they still need to be able to score points.

Defence is also something that is fine tuned over an extended period, some attacking prowess is natural born talent and you teach the rest of the game around that.

Hi All. Just had a read of Fox Sports Preview of our team for this season at https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/a7a8cbba8ae823549ae28583c2f5e2de and found this at the end as predicted finish.

Yikes... I mean it's totally possible we finish 12th but it's way more likely we land in the top 8 with a squad like that. Whoever wrote that is sh*t stirring.

Here' how these stories work:

1. Take last year's table.
2. Mix a couple around.
3. Pluck from arse.

Case in point, look at last year's. They have us coming second:
