Their biggest innovation that no one has adapted yet was their time in possession. They'd constantly soak up the clock with a lot of crab runs, turning players back on the inside, players running support etc.Interesting that they still coach together. I feel like their innovations have been appropriated by most teams now and they probably deserved more credit by way of a coaching job for them.
Their wingers would play like extra fullbacks, coming off their wing and just lurking around the mid-field. They'd use their speed to get around the forwards and tempt a bad defensive read or just tire them out.
Would love to see if the numbers backed it up, because it seemed like their average set lasted at least 10 seconds longer than a typical set.
