Q-CUP 2025 Queensland Cup Discussion

That's terrible to hear about Stephenson.

Was one of the best players in his age group, his Cup form was strong too and if everything had have gone to plan he would surely have played NRL this year.

It's a bitter blow for Hannay as well. Bringing Stephenson into the starting team would have been one of the better long term moves and it would have reflected well on him as a coach. Instead it's back to the drawing board.

I can't help but think to U/19s Origin, I thought surely things would go right for the Titans.

Since then...

Raymond Puru --> Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
Sam Stephenson --> Retired
Javon Andrews --> Wests Tigers

Sunny Kama and Cooper Bai is all that remains. Bai is off contract and has the Roosters, Storm and Chiefs all courting him.

Good luck.

Adam Chistensen to Titans- @Big Pete.

I liked him, wouldn't have minded the Broncos taking a roll of the dice with him.

Blackhawks back with Cowboys, so they're back to three clubs again.

Christensen was somebody who stood out right away as a potential T&T player.

He'd already been a part of South Sydney's NRL system, so the step-up to professional football wouldn't have been unfamiliar and he has the right body composition to play second-row.

I thought his form towards the end of the season was strong too - he was a pillar of the Bears attack and while he wasn't Kikau or Crichton he wasn't afraid of the responsibility.

I would have had him in the Broncos extended squad, but I'm glad that he's sticking with the Coast. I really hope the likes of him and Patston can make something of themselves at this level.

I couldn't help but think about the Coast during the Grand Final. Reece Walsh, Xavier Coates, Brendan Piakura etc. should have all been at the forefront of the club. I really hope Kini, Bai and Harrison work out for them.

Chester broke the club’s 1.2km shuttle run record last week in 4 minutes and 23 seconds.

Herdegen had the record at 4.25.

@Big Pete Tyreece Tait back at Norths after 16 tries in 17 Cup games for Roosters.

Strange recruitment and return after two years.

Tyreece played the final two games of the NRLQ season for the Dolphins, so it doesn't come as a huge surprise.

It does highlight how quickly things can change. He was a stand-out in their 2024 NSW Cup side scoring better than a try a game. Returns in 2025, struggles to make the same impact, gets dropped to Flegg and can't fight his way back.

I presume he may have been a part of the Junior Tupou release - either directly or indirectly.

I would say his career is at a crossroads, but from my understanding it's a training contract for 26 and a dev deal in 27. Good piece of business and there's always room for a speedy winger if he wants to make a career out of this.

Thoughts on this?

It's really solid value.

Of course you're not getting Channel 9/Foxtel level production but on the flipside you rarely miss any of the action because they have a close-up of a player on the bench or something ridiculous.

Whoever was broadcasting the Ashes last year was hopeless.

They would go multiple tackles with a low close up of the ball runner... you had absolutely no idea what was going on around them

Given they have put the price up, is their commentary this year?

Think these are some of the Broncs Cyril kids fornSouth Logan and Wynnum. Will be more in other teams like Burleigh, only half the teams playing week 1.

Think Mal Meninga has 1 game this weekend with Magpies playing quite a few kids in the team too.
