Q-CUP 2025 Queensland Cup Discussion

I think Shibasaki is the only one of note. Hopoate and Gayle are the other train and trialists and were already there. I’m eagerly awaiting a proper QRL gains and losses/season preview article but there’s one on zero tackle (but it’s a bit scratchy and lists them having nil gains).

Surely they’ll need some bolstering, they’ve lost Milson, Page Wilson, Stucky and the lesser Hetherington That I’ve pieced together. As well as Cruise ten and Johnathan Ruben but they seem to have been failed signings last year.

Burleigh and Souths gains makes for much better reading.

Come to think of it, I‘d imagine Perham as a dev player will get allocated to Wynnum seeing as Souths got Siegwaldt and Burleigh got West (and I think still Toia) as fullbacks.

Trew moved to Bears Meninga, so they will have Trew, Verhoeven, Tonihi, Innes and Coates.

That's some big outside fast backs.

Surprised Black wasn't moved back to Bears, I don't know their halves combo but he was brought up in their system.

Not that I am complaining I would rather him at Logan under Khunt.

Based on his first five minutes in Meninga I would be making sure Verhoeven takes two tackles every set out of your end.

Hope #4 Tayshon Foley is OK.

He's on the medicab after he got caught up in an awkward tackle and his head slammed into the turf.

Still early days here, Jets will have the ball on tackle 0 after Verhoeven failed to intercept Foley's speculator.

Kallquist runs around Eteru, takes on McLaren who fails to get a hand on him and opens the scoring for the Jets.

4-0 Jets kick to come.

Fraser spills it taking a simple hit-up and the Bears go on the attack.

However Watson's attempt to delay the pass inadvertently picks up Sykes and the Bears blow a golden opportunity to hit back.

Bears have the biggest backs in the world and can't hold the ball to get it to them- this time last year McConnell and Black were giving them 90% of every set.

Watson needs to take over.

Harrison Hill kicks a 40/20 but Fraser is caught for exploiting an obstruction.

Bears fail to find touch, Fraser once again runs an obstruction.

Well put that time stamp down, that'll go onto the Broncos highlight reels.

Verhoeven slices through down the left and opens the scoring for the Bears.

Tough kick coming up here for Watson.
