Coby Black has been omitted from the final game of the Magpies season.

I'd have to imagine he's injured, it'd seem strange if Madge decided to have him on stand-by for a 4th placed qualifier against Melbourne.

Unless, to everyone’s surprise, he’s one of our cheap shot merchant thugs?

Semu great start. Completely dominated.

Magpies 16-0 you’d think they were having to win.

Around the grounds, Melbourne locked up first place in Jersey Flegg and rested the majority of their side in their 52-22 loss against the Eels.

Hugo Peel, Ben Stringer, Mitchell Jennings, Liam Williams, Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown, Eli Morris, Dylan Brettle, K-Ci Newton-Whare, Gabriel Satrick, Talas Abell, Preston Conn, Zayvian Langkilde-Fale, Angus Hinchey.

Jordan Blundell, Cooper Clarke, Stanley Huen

All rested with Waka Hammond the only player to appear (and he still had to come off the bench).

I don't think I've seen that before. I was going to say, one of the reasons why Melbourne would resist resting too many players is because of how well their Flegg team is doing and they wouldn't want to disrupt them. It goes to show how seriously they're taking the U/21s.

Magpies 22 Jets 0
Bears 34 Falcons 0

Looks like Bears minor premiership and Jets or Easts 8th.

Souths 34-16 FT.

Score is a pretty good indication of the game. Souths great start and just too good.

Souths can think about their last month all summer.

He's sick.

It was the only plausible explanation. I would have found it difficult to believe that Madge would take Black out of the game and look to bring him in the squad. Especially since Coby has never even been named as a reserve.

So Finals Week 1 we're looking at:

Qualifying Final 1: Burleigh Bears vs. Wynnum Manly Seagulls
Qualifying Final 2: Norths Devils vs. Townsville Blackhawks
Elimination Final 1: Sunshine Coast Falcons vs. Ipswich Jets
Elimination Final 2: Redcliffe Dolphins vs. PNG Hunters

Congratulations to the Jets for making their first finals series since 2018. It's been a tough road and they only just got through by the skin of their teeth but at least they're trending in the right direction.

21. McConnell.
22. Coates.

Seagulls
4. Hoeter

I think Coates must be getting close to a debut, Xavier was at Norths v Bears last week and that seemed strange.

Leota finishes the year with six handling errors on Sunday for a total of 35 in 17 games.
