[2025 Trial] Broncos vs. Bears

Supreme specimen but just needs to learn football

Well 1st time I`ve seen the kid .
He was nowhere near as bad as I might have expected given some of the criticism I`ve read about him on here .
Did a nice tap back from a bomb . Shrugged off a tackle and finished a very slick backline move .
Huge winger . Keen to see him develop now I have seen him .

His Origin U19's game last year was absolutely horrendous... one of the worst games I've seen from a player.

If this is the first game you've seen of him and you didn't watch that game, then probably go watch that before starting to talk about the criticism.... he looked nowhere near first grade in that game and already had a Top 30 contract lined up.

He looks an absolute behemoth at the moment... will be hoping that Madge can teach him some footy IQ, because if he can then it would mean he can teach anyone and we'd have an absolute specimen to throw on the wing

I was at the game and Madge was pumped up coming out after half time. You could tell he was taking it very seriously. I think the biggest takeaway was the defence. Burleigh didn't look like breaking us. It is one game but it did look like a different club, more serious and a focus on defence. The boys were hitting and running hard.

When it’s bad it’s real and and when its
Good it’s amazing. He will develop with more time.

I re-watched the 1st half of the game thinking "maybe koellner wasn't that good, just a big body"... and no, he was good. But what was impressed me on the re-watch wasn't the runs or defence, it was that he was an option/decoy/run on EVERY single run past our 40 metre line. It was an incredible show of fitness from such a big body after his 1st nrl preseason. Genuine option if he plays like that again in the next trial, even moreso bcos I read he is actually a 2nd rower too. But let's be honest, it's a whole different ball game up against the nrl boys so he could come crashing back down the pecking order.

Leota looks huge and ripped in person! A lot more athletic than last year, was quite impressed with him, philitoga, vaihu and Innes all went well especially the last 2 with limited minutes
I can’t understand for the life of me how jock madden and Tyson smoothy are in the top 30 at our club, they are terrible and offer absolutely nothing, they’ll be gone after this year surely - was disappointed they didn’t give black more than 20 mins and let jock play 60 odd minutes?
All in all I think our outside back stocks are the strongest we’ve had in a very long time
Jett Bryce was awesome I thought, and Antonio verhoven for mal meninga cup was incredible, centre/ back row - good in a time we desperately need back row depth within the coming years

To be fair to smoothy, the broncos really won that in the middle of the field and it looked to be very much smoothy directing the forwards around.

What smoothy does that is underrated is engaging the markers and then passing the ball which prevents the markers picking off the ball runners.

Karapani did some good things too I thought .
That Jet Bryce kid . Beef him up, sign him long term .He`s a good`n .

Kollner MVP . BTK showed some nice touches the pass after drawing the defenders in the middle was nice .
