That was a shock when I learned that, he looks like a young teenager... if he's 23, he's done growing....

I wouldn't say he's done learning, but I wouldn't expect him to transform into a fully formed fullback in a hurry. He's played more in the halves.

We are gonna have some good players miss a spot for round 1, and I've got to say it's hard to argue with what maguire is obviously trying to do. Defence is his focus and rightfully so.

Tapau and te kura deserve spots but both will miss out. Mariner deserves a spot but will likely miss out. Piakura will likely play from the bench but deserves a start (I agree with madge on this, bringing him off the bench to play 40-50 until he learns to focus in defence for 80 mins is the right move and gives our bench a lot more impact). Our depth has suddenly become great over the off season with the coaching they've got.

Only dissapointments this off season have been latrell seigwalt, riki and hoeter, along with the injury to perham.

He played like he had booted up some meth before the game. Anyone else see him clapping his hands riding the bloke playing the ball as if he wanted it faster. I saw him run once and it was awesome to see. Didn't see him run much last week, still got some speed too

That's why I'm spitballing Madden or someone else at 14. Madge has rotated dummy half between the hooker and halves in all three trials.

I don't think he'll be too crazy with his bench. I think Piakura gets one spot if Gos is definitely starting, which I think is great. He's been showing great impact in the trials already.

Willison gets one of the middles spots... and then it's a toss up between Jensen, Marty and BTK... I feel like BTK starts the year in Qcup but might finish it in the 17.

I don't think he'll be too cute with the utility spot... I think Billy is probably still ahead because he can play halves, but I also think that Madge would like that Paix and Smoothy stay within the structure much better than Billy.

Seeing Smoothy getting a decent run at lock was interesting to me... shows his versatility, but also shows that you could get 15mins or so out of him at lock if needed.

I don't think we can afford to have someone in the utility that can play 'a bit' of hooker... our hookers can't get through 80mins... and probably struggle with 60mins... so we need a guy that can play 30-40mins of hooker at minimum... and if we're only using 1 interchange for the hooker, then whoever is the utility would be finishing the game at hooker.

I don't think Jock is able to play hooker better than anyone else we have, and I definitely don't want to see Bhunt moving out of the halves every game into hooker, because we've picked a half on the bench as a utility.
