2026 NRL General Discussion Thread

I'd rule anyone who complains of a crusher or a head high and refuses to play the ball until the bunker rules on it needs to go off straight away and wait 5 minutes regardless of what the bunker rules.
I dead set don’t remember a single person staying down for a crusher tackle before it was a penalty.

Yeah the Feldt one was hilarious. It’s a great initiative, diving still happens but far less in the ESL.

We've always done alright with crowds all things considered. Don't get me wrong, that gets inflated by Warriors and Broncos games I would say, but I reckon if we put together a few good years we could average 20k+ very easily. First few years it was packed. Easier said than done though.

Fox League replayed the Top 12 Greatest Games of 2025

I caught it from #7

7. Round 9 - Melbourne Storm vs. Canberra Raiders
6. Round 11 - Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs vs. Sydney Roosters
5. Round 24 - Penrith Panthers vs. Melbourne Storm
4. Grand Final - Melbourne Storm vs. Brisbane Broncos
3. Round 22 - Gold Coast Titans vs. Penrith Panthers
2. Round 25 - Penrith Panthers vs. Canberra Raiders
1. Finals Week 1 - Canberra Raiders vs. Brisbane Broncos

A pretty fair list, I'm still trying to figure out how @mrslong got gaslit. I genuinely believe you, I wonder if there was a graphic that may have thrown you off?

Our prelim v Penrith didn’t make top 7? All three of our finals should have been on there in my opinion.

And honesty, I get why us v Canberra is number 1, it’s impossible to argue but the theatre against Penrith, the quality of the game, the crowd, the twists and turns, it to me is a clear 2 or 3. I get the Mudgee game being 2 and that’s fair enough.

Yep, I reckon they ****ed up the numbering. Because those are the games I watched and I couldn’t work out why they stopped at #6 and how either of one of those raiders games weren’t number one was beyond me! They had the GF at 9 etc.

Thanks for clarifying!!!

Courier Mail reporting that the Bellamy to Titans move has "fallen through"

They're saying that the Titans "walked away" from negotiations because they are convinced Hannay will deliver the Titans their first premiership

Josh Hannay said:

“It’s great to officially get started with the Titans,” Hannay said.

“We’ve assembled a talented and driven team, and I’m confident we’re ready to build on something truly special here on the Gold Coast.

“There’s a lot of hard work ahead, but we’re energised and completely united in our vision.”

“I’ve been involved in discussions about Craig’s potential involvement before I accepted the role,” he said.

“The opportunity to work alongside someone of his calibre would be a tremendous asset for our club, our players, and for me personally in my first role as a head coach.

Titans chairman Dennis Watt said.

“Craig Bellamy’s legacy in the game speaks for itself,”

“His interest in returning to Queensland is well known, and as a club committed to success and excellence, we had a responsibility to explore every possibility that could strengthen our future and secure the expertise of the most successful coach in the modern era.

“We make no apologies for pursuing the best. That’s what ambitious and successful organisations do.

“While we don’t comment on confidential contractual matters, we can say that much of the recent commentary has been inaccurate.”

Watt stressed the Titans did not keep Hannay in the dark about their talks with Bellamy.

“Throughout this process, Josh and his management have been fully informed and engaged,” he said.

“Their professionalism and support for our decision in securing Craig Bellamy has been unwavering.”

In my ideal world, the Titans just ‘Bellamyied’ Bellamy. Keep showing genuine interest and blowing smoke up his arse and once you have him to the boat, cut the line on him like he has done to us so many times.
Titans aren’t smart enough, but let me dream for just a minute or two.

  • Lost twice as many GF's as he has won
  • Never won a GF without Cam Smith
  • Biggest loss in GF history
  • Failed at Origin
  • Had to systematically cheat to get a superior team which they profited off for years, to gain what success they had

I wonder if that's the legacy Dennis Watt is referring to?

Bellamy to remain in Melbourne after using a QLD club as a negotiation tactic? Nah, he wouldn’t do that.

Think it's the Titans giving bellyache the blue balls this time.

NZ will host a State of Origin match in 2027.

Game 2 of the '27 series will be played at Eden Park which has a capacity of 50,000. Kick off has been brought forward so the NZ public has a more favorable kick off time. Kick off will be at 7:30PM.

NZ will reportedly pay $5 million to host the game.

Well at least this time going overseas it's to a country that plays the sport.
