PNG expected to release the name of their NRL team today as well.

Apparently it was between Pythons, Angels (ie. fuzzy wuzzy angels), Chiefs and something else.

I think Chiefs sounds bad ass for their team name, so hope they go with that

Closest you’d get is Cairns Taipans in the NBL, and the rhyming definitely helps there.

Ya the only other snake team that I can think of is the Arizona Diamondbacks.

I knew they wouldn't but I think keeping Hunters would have been cooler than Chiefs. But I won't be supporting them so I shouldn't give a shit lol

They probably weren't allowed to go Hunters in the same way dolphins weren't able to be Redcliffe... because they're both in the Qcup.

I had Diamondbacks in my brain somewhere, wasn’t sure if they were still a thing with the fickleness of US sports

Hunters in cup supporting the Chiefs has a nice synergy to it though.

I reckon they’ll be a lot of peoples second team, even though I despise the notion.

I was 50-50 about the name 'Chiefs' until my son sent me this, and then I really liked it;
