2026 NRL General Discussion Thread

I'm with @tommy here TBH. And my dad has dementia, so I'm not unaware of the potentail repercussions of the diagnosis.

You can have early onset of stuff and still function.
He’s probably known about it awhile, just a convenient time to reveal it. Would anybody here put the storm past it?

Uncle of mine died from a brain disease. By the end he was a vegetable in a wheelchair but in the years beforehand his behaviour became very………different to who he really was

It might be convenient but still, its sad. You don't wish this on anyone, no one does of course.

I’ll leave it at that as not to upset anybody but am willing to wager hundreds on this forum has wished worse on him.

Personally, I wouldn't be releasing it to the public at all. I'd keep it private and just retire due to a private 'personal reason' or 'health matter'. Each to their own though

Gives him a reason to walk away if he decides to. All that stress and tension he brings into each game. It isn’t good for him surely.

“It’s convenient” all I’m saying.
100% on the timing. Why to reveal it to the public at all if they see him in very high regard? He deserves some privacy & respect from them and these things should’ve been kept in house.

They know for a fact that they’re cooked and not winning shit anytime soon so, took an easier option of white flag to deflect any kind of criticism. That club deserves to rot forever especially when we’ve 2 new teams coming in soon.

Unless this is a soft way to allow them to remove him gracefully. His next interview will be interesting as to whether he wanted this to come out or the club just went rogue.

You honesty don't think the club would want to be sued for breach of his private medical info.

Melbourne Storm is living rent free in many heads on here. Can't believe some of the things I'm reading.

This is very sad news for Bellamy and his family - here's hoping when it does start to have an impact on him, it's not too severe.
