2026 NRL General Discussion Thread

The ARL Commission is set to seal a stunning $5.3 billion TV rights deal in a broadcast bonanza that will see the NRL trump the AFL’s existing contract by almost $1 billion.

The deal is worth around $750 million annually, but could grow to almost $800m per season with the addition of a 20th franchise, a 10th game per round, and Kiwi TV investment.

The ARL Commission is putting the finishing touches on the deal with a formal announcement expected in the coming days, if not early next week.

We shouldn't be adding more teams just to bump up the TV deal.

It should be because the game needs it, which it doesn't.

Aside from PNG though, credit where its due - Redcliffe, Perth and NZ2 are good choices.
