Playing devils advocate here. From purely an on-field perspective, Lomax is what we're missing at wing. Big, strong, post contact metres and aerial threat. Shoring up our aerial issues is going to be extra important with the rule changes to disruptor and removing 7 tackle restarts in try scoring situations.
We also have a surplus of decent but not amazing backs. Would be very open to shipping any combination of Karapani/Arthars/Anderson. Unsure if the off-field distraction would be worth it, or if Parra would even entertain trading with us.
I think there's no chance Eels force Lomax to sit out for two years. They've done this to get more leverage to swap Lomax into something that actually helps them win.

He wasn't reluctant he was stupid.
Matterson wanted a guaranteed second year or the deal was off. The Storm wasn't prepared to give any guarantees for 27.
What the hell is happening when Matterson is demanding two years? Eels haven't picked him since June.

This is why player trades/swaps are near impossible.
You need to get so many parties to agree to terms.
Storm was going to pick up his contract; he would be on the same money Storm or Eels for 2026.

Yes, but Jazza is basically suggesting, unless he could get another year out of Melb than he is already getting at Parra, why bother moving for the same money.
If he just wants his cash and doesn't actually care about playing. It's not worth moving unless he gets another year of guaranteed cash.
He's pretty much ended his career on October 31 though, the chance to go to Melbourne have a fresh start and play some NRL and earn another year could have got him another year and another 400k.
It's not even the smart financial choice.

Was always going to happen. The funniest part is the media slamming the Eels for standing their ground and saying shit like "Zac is now lost to the game thanks to you..." etc etc. Completely disregarding that the dickhead got out of his contract and agreed to that clause in the first place...so he could leave the ****ing game. Morons
