2026 Pre-Season Discussion

Which I'd arguably prefer. I don't hate the 6 again rule in theory but I don't like it in its current state. Needs to be something like 2 x 6 agains and then a penalty or something. Or its a penalty after tackle 3 etc. Either way, it needs to be reworked if they aren't going to scrap it because we've got teams getting continuous 6 agains on the 4th and 5th and basically getting carried up the field by the ref. It's BS. We've absolutely reaped the benefits of this as well btw but I don't like it at all.

Edit: Or ****ing bin someone if the ref has to call more than 2 X 6 agains in a set.
Stop making so much sense @Harry Sack

Biggest issue i have with 6 agains, they cannot be challenged, the refs are not held to account on them, players exploit them on both sides of the ball and the way the rules are applied change not just from game to game but often during games. They have become a game management tool and that really sucks.

I have zero interest in changing anything about the game after the season that was just had.

Really?

Let's not let the fact that the boys won it all, cloud the bullshit excuse for a game of league that was most of the 2025 season - again. Most games were an absolute punish to watch, I lost interest a third of the way through the year and I used to watch just about every game, every weekend.

Happy for you to have a different opinion of course, but despite the game apparently doing so well...it's not healthy in its current state. Maybe I'm just a dinosaur hanging onto a different era.

They set it up. We knocked it down.

Result.

Yeah we just have different views here, and it would probably still be that way even if we didn't win the comp.

The things that people in this place tend to complain about (conspiracies against us by the refs and NRL) are things that I don't think are rooted in reality.

If your beef is more in line with the "game has gone soft" crowd I can't argue with you. It's just personally not enough of an irritant to overwhelm the positives that I see in the game.

I saw Walsh isn’t in the calendar because of a dispute for using his image. That’s an interesting one and one I haven’t heard before from nrl players, especially for club related items.

Whoever is responsible for ****ing that up, regardless of why, deserves the boot. Especially when Kobe is in there.

Wait Kobe is in it? That’s hilarious! Since Walsh got omitted, why couldn’t they remove Kobe? I have found ever club struggles with this, every year their calendars always have atleast one player that’s left lol

Something to do with the Players' Association and a dispute over royalties that neither side will comment on. The nominations were done back in July before Kobe pulled the pin.

I can understand why he and his management want control over his IP – a lot of athletes do it, especially overseas. It’s just not as common here in Australia as it’s rare that someone reaches the level of ‘celebrity’ that Reece has. His name, image and likeness will likely net him more money than his playing contract ever will (so long as he doesn’t have a major scandal). This seems a bit extreme though – the Broncos fullback and number 1 player, not being present in their official calendar.

I assume that something similar happened at the beginning of the year between him and Channel 9. He shot an episode of Marlee Silva’s podcast, Marlee and Me, and some of the clips of the interviewed were heavily used in the lead up to the start of the season. For whatever reason, the interview never aired. It’s a shame too as, from the small clips that I’ve seen, it was great discussion about his family, and Indigenous and Maori heritage.
