Trew officially gone to Rabbitohs flegg

It was the system his family wanted him in, and it was fortunate that it's worked out. They literally had no backup when leaving the Broncos, just start fresh and hope to find somewhere, and they did.

His dad drove down with him mid last week, helped him settle in. Furner has been awesome, no bullshit, keen to get him on the field ASAP.

Happy to hear he's been able to find a home somewhere and hope he kills it... will broncos cop flak for letting him go if he does... absolutely... but we cop flak nonstop anyway so who cares at this point.

Just happy to see more Qlders in the league at this point and he's having to do it the hard way... so hopefully he cracks the league at some point and gets a debut

Woolfie will look after him and with Herbie's help get him firing.

Another bronco nearing 100 games that is leaving the club... add him to the list of Herbie, Flegler, Fifita, Palasia, Ofa, TPJ, Isaako, TMM, Lodge, etc.

Only players at the club with over 100 games Bhunt, Reyno, Jensen, Staggs, Haas, Patty and Riki.

Players getting close to that mark: Billy (98 games), Arthars (94), Kobe (92 games... probably gone end of this year), Walsh (83) and Gos (81)

The salary cap works wonders for clubs that try and develop talent….

Yeah... look at the guys over or nearing 100 games.

Bhunt and Reyno likely retired after next year
Jensen, Kobe and Gos are unsigned for next year
Billy could be unsigned end of next year
Haas not signed beyond next year

So by the end of next year the only guaranteed players signed on and will be over 100 games will be Staggs, Patty, Riki, Arthars and Walsh.

Leadership and experience remains an issue at this club, but the salary cap seems to make it damn near impossible to keep a good balance between experienced, rookies and emerging experience.

If we're looking to recruit externally, we should probably be looking at guys between 100-150 games.

You get them on 3-4yr deals, which keeps them until they are 200+ games, but they're already proven NRL and bring experience of doing preseasons, etc.

Hard to do though if you don't have much cap.

We are also as a club addicted to the next shiny thing.

The talent identification and evaluation needs to be better then.

Also the FOMO needs to stop from the R&R team.

Have seen just this year that Staggs and Cobbo were hyped to the max as off contract players.

I think Staggs went to market and there werent any takers at his asking price so he stayed (and I dont think he is on anywhere near $800k btw)... and Cobbo has now gone backwards in value.

Imagine if we had re-signed them both last year, which is what the club normally does for high potential players.

Would also help having consistency with the coaching.

Bringing in a new coach every 3-4 years means he's having to make decisions on guys he's not really seen or have any knowledge on...in terms of development players... but has to make a decision on whether to keep them around.

2025 will be Selwyn Cobbo's final season at the Broncos:

Now that the dolphins have lost Bostock for the season they would probably be interested in an early release of Cobbo for the rest of this year.
We should consider it given that he is now unlikely to play NRL again for us this season unless we get a stack of injuries in the backline. Would also free up a little bit of cash if we need to top someone up to get a deal done.

I wouldn't release Cobbo, why make another team stronger when he's leaving us.

Nah **** those *****... we need depth as well.

Why are the broncos required to be different to any other club?

Why arent there calls for storm to release Anderson to us early?.. because they need him for injury cover.

Our depth is non-existent at fullback and Walsh could get selected for origin next week... what do we do then??

It's not even a stack of injuries in the outside backs either.

It's basically Mariner and Hoeter left for the outside backs... or we're debuting Leota and that will not end well.

Would he make the dolphins stronger though?
Madge obviously doesn't think he makes us stronger or he would be in the team.
So what does it matter if he goes into the dolphins team.
