CRICKET 24/25 Queensland Bulls

Good question. He’s still very young but he’s had a really good season. Next year is the Ashes but after that, I think a number of batting spots in the XI will open up. If he backs this season up next, I could see him replacing Khawaja but he needs to back it up.
I think he is a better prospect than most mentioned though tabloids...
Sorry if this seems like a dumb question....
Do you think he is better off getting selected in the Australian squad...or playing a few more years in lower grades?

I think he might follow Head’s career a bit in that the talent is clear but he’s taken a bit of time to find his feet. They are very dissimilar types of batsmen but just in terms of career trajectory. Kellaway’s average has only just gone above 30 after 30 FC games, so he definitely isn’t banging the door down. I think they’ll be patient with him and once he gets his shot, they will need to give him time to find his feet. I think he’d benefit by more FC cricket than touring as part of squads.

There is already one opener spot up for grabs (Konstas) and another will be available in the next year or two (Khawaja). It will be interesting to see who announces themselves as potential candidates.

Konstas will probably play the WTC Final in June and Kellaway is putting his name up there to be a potential candidate for Khawaja's spot when it becomes available.

As pointed out above, the Victorians have persevered with him over the last couple of years when his average has been very poor. If he has another good shield season next year then maybe he comes into the picture for higher honours

There are arent too many openers screaming out for selection at the moment so it will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Yeah well said. Even this season, Harris and Bancroft have fallen off a cliff and given their ages and history, you would think they aren’t under consideration anymore.

Weatherald gas done well since coming back in but he’s also the wrong side of 30 with an average the wrong side of 40. Renshaw has been more cold than hot. Whiteman is also probably too old now.

So really, you are holding your breath Konstas and Kellaway continue their upward trajectories because the opener cupboard is pretty bare. Dixon should be opening for VIC but he’s also been pretty average with some moments of brilliance. That said, I rate him higher than Konstas.

Shame Weibgen couldn’t get a game for Qld.
