That register doesn’t stop him from using international betting agencies, ones that pay out in crypto which even be harder to detect. Being on that register doesn’t mean he can’t bet there and even on NRL games because he would be even harder to get caught there.By all reports his gambling addiction was years ago. He's put himself on a register that bans him from all online/phone gambling.
He could always do walk-ins but given he's a well known figure, it's fairly risky.
If the NRL checked his betting accounts/bank statements and found nothing, they don't have cause to sack him. There isn't anything in the rules that says referees can't gamble on other sports.
If he's no longer gambling and there is nothing in his history that shows he has bet on any NRL games, I don't see much issue in him staying employed.
It's entirely possible for addicts to only have a particular vice and it's entirely possible for addicts to get help and put that shit behind them.
