If he's no longer gambling and there is nothing in his history that shows he has bet on any NRL games, I don't see much issue in him staying employed.

It's entirely possible for addicts to only have a particular vice and it's entirely possible for addicts to get help and put that shit behind them.

That register doesn’t stop him from using international betting agencies, ones that pay out in crypto which even be harder to detect. Being on that register doesn’t mean he can’t bet there and even on NRL games because he would be even harder to get caught there.

With a history of addiction and the NRL knowing about it, you could argue that the NRL have him by the balls, they could end his career at the click of their fingers. He'd pretty much have to do anything they told him to do or he's gone, his livelihood, his reputation, all dirt. Then put him in charge of the biggest games in the code and give him an earpiece where you can direct him.

Can’t really understand why the story is coming out now though. I’m sure we’re about to find out though lol.

Well I didn't think it was a dumb question but this answer suggests it was. I'll need to see how I can simplify that even further in the future.

Not a coincidence. The non-nrl affiliated media have been ripping the game apart this year with blowouts, ref incompetence, bunker incompetence and Klein in particular has been singled out for having a bigger impact on the outcome of games than the players themselves. Then came the Ponga call against the bunker ( regardless of if you think the call was right or wrong, the guy with one angle from 20 meters away overrode the system with many angles and slow mo replays) and the NRL had to back him or look like complete amateurs (which they are).

Ive never before seen a petition to have a ref removed from duties but it happened with Klein.
There has been backlash against him from literally every team then the origin debacle happens.

This is the NRL exonerating themselves of responsibility.

"The NRL isnt corrupy/inept/amateur" Klein is!

Hopefully it ends with Klein on the dole Q down at centrelink, but it wont solve the problem at the top.

All of that, before he goes to the drastic measure of permanently self-excluding but it's all good boys, he's not in debt.

I don’t think he lost it all on the same day mate. My gambling losses would amount to around the 100-150k mark, maybe more, I wasn’t really counting….that was over 7 years though.
