Yeah I think the ARL policy is a bit shortsighted. I don't think Origin coaching consumes that much of your time on its own. However, if you combined that with an NRL job AND National job (as Bennett did in 1998) it'd be WAY too much.

wasnt the reason being the ARL didnt want an origin Coach as they were concerned he would pick mainly QLDERS.

Given the coach doesn't pick the squad and they also wouldn't give it to Bellamy unless he gave up the NSW job.

I can't see any logical reason for their policy on this.

The worst thing about the Australian team atm is there are too many NSW players.
I might be biased but to me it seems most of the AUS players who actually do anything are the QLD players [icon_wink

pffffttt as if the media would know. If he stood down from the Qld position and took up the Aussie position it wouldn't make him any more or less inclined to pick Qlders if that's what he wanted to do (and if he was the one who actually selected the team) - so I really don't think that would be the reason.

couldnt he stand down from the QLD team, coach the Aus team, then stand down from Aus at the end of the tournament and take up with QLD again? surely neither of them are a full 12-month-a-year job?

I must say... the QLDERs have gun some gun players going around right now. NSW I can only think of Hayne... QLD have so many class players going around!
