CRICKET Australia v Sri Lanka

I don't think he's going over to just make up numbers just quietly. I think he will debut but whether that is test 1 or 2 I'm not sure.

He's a chance if they go with just Starc and then use three spinners and he bats at six and bowls.

My definition of part timer is a guy who has another skill more developed and bowls as a secondary skill .
Murphy and Kuhnemann have both played for Australia as specialists previously.
Are you trying to say they are sitting at home on the couch ? LOL .

Is it that pitches in Qld and Victoria don`t suit spinners so the selectors aren`t picking Murphy and Kuhnemanns ? Because we know they both can be very effective in spin friendly conditions .

He couldn't displace Swepson.

He clearly wanted to play Shield because he left and signed with the Tigers, Hobart isn't much better than the Gabba for a spin bowler. If he'd stayed in Queensland, he's playing Club cricket for the Gold Coast and not going to Sri Lanka.

16 wickets last season at 44 in Hobart- Beau knew there was no future in spin in Hobart.

Kuhemann has nine this year at home.

I think my point is valid, if you are hoping to make the Test side then making your State side should be the bare minimum and then taking 30 plus wickets and playing 10 games would be nice.

We are getting down to the pointy end of replacing Lyon and someone needs to step up and you're not going to do that playing for the Heat and OD and club cricket.

Kuhmann and Connolly take it the opposite way to Murphy and Lyon so they have that big ticket in his box.

Ummm ,,, how many shield games did Lyon play before playing tests ?

You seem to have missed the point again- he's not a rookie that's only played 4 games like Connolly- he couldn't make his state side. He's had to move to play State Cricket.

Last year he was a part time cricketer.

I think that’s still a harsh interpretation. I think he is very much a full time cricketer in red ball at state level. It’s unreasonable to expect state teams to select 2 spinners especially when neither offer anything with the bat in Australian conditions. QLD picked Swepson, which you can understand when you see what he has brought to Qld for the last decade. Don’t think you can exactly use an argument that hey look Qld picked Swepson over him so he is a part time cricketer.

I personally would have Kuhnemann in my side before Swepson. Especially considering his consistency and quality in all 3 formats. You never know what you are gonna get from Swepson and whilst on his day and months and seasons there is few better in the world he just doesn’t chuck that up very regularly. Obviously he has his captaincy value and at state level he can win you games like very few can but when he isn’t winning you games and just has to do his job consistently, Kuhnemann is far better and far more reliable. I completely understand why QLD picked Swepson but I think any other state would pick Kuhnemann before Swepson and I think Kuhnemann is the better bowler. They both turn it the same way and they are in a fairly comparable situation in terms of who to pick on that tour and Kuhnemann got the nod. I rate him highly, I could see a world where he gets Lyon’s spot once he is done.

They are the 2 best 3 format spinners we have in the country in my opinion. I think Kuhnemann’s skillset and consistency brings more value at an international level than Swepson. I don’t think there should be to much discontent with his selection and image as a full time spin bowler in red ball cricket.

It would be a bit like saying Sua Faalogo is a part time footy player cause Papenhuyzen has his spot ahead of him. Great player but nobody in the storms position would pick sua over Papenhuyzen after what he has done for the side. QLD have won shields with Swepson, Melbourne have won comps with Papi. Can’t really criticise Kuhnemann and his quality for having to go to Tasmania to find a permanent place in a shield set up.

None of that is relevant. This is purely a workload comment.

23/24- 37+53 - 90 overs in a summer.

24/25-17.5, 22, 240.5- 280 overs in a summer and still got half a Shield season to go.

It's really not hard to understand.
