Squad to be named tomorrow.

Games take place on the 17th, 19th & 22nd of February. All players who were selected for the India tour will be unavailable, including Boof. Langer will be coaching the side.

With that in mind, I'm really hopeful that Chris Lynn is fit by then, we could put out a really strong side.

1. Aaron Finch (c)
2. Daniel Hughes
3. Chris Lynn
4. Moses Henriques
5. Travis Head
6. Sam Whiteman
7. Shaun Abbott
8. Pat Cummins
9. Mitchell Johnson
10. Mark Steketee
11. Adam Zampa

Hard to leave out blokes like Dunk, Klinger, Bailey & White. But we're better off going with younger guys for the moment. (Excluding Mitch Johnson, who I think should be forced to come out of retirement and play this 3 match series, that'd be awesome!)

I am a bit fed up with this younger policy, if a guy like White is getting runs by the truck load then I want him playing

He isn't though.

If anyone was going to force his way into the squad with pure run scoring despite his age it'd be Klinger.

Whites ODI form was head and shoulders above anyone else who got the call up

This is a T20 squad.

But yeah, he played great during the Matador Cup. It's pretty rare that selectors take any notice of that competition for whatever reason though, prime example is them picking Sam Heazlett for this NZ series with him not playing a single game for QLD in List A, whilst someone like Marnus Labuschagne scored 260 runs @ 52 in the Matador Cup and doesn't even get considered. (Daniel Hughes scored a shit load of runs in the Matador Cup as well, but I assume he didn't get considered because he's more of a specialist opener and we already have Warner, Finch, Head, Marsh)

I'm starting to think that we're prioritising T20 and are just using ODI games to get experience for future T20 tournaments.

Lynn is no chance; last I checked he can't field. If he has to field he has to hope the ball doesn't come near him for the next few overs while he recovers.

Batting he is alright if he middles it, if he misses or jars it he is in pain.

You're right, when the top 18 batsmen in One Day cricket in the country can't get a run then something is missing. The problem is the schedule. When the One Day comp was run though out the season after each Shield game you had a chance all through the summer to force your way in. Bulls would be playing Tasmania in a One day game this week under the old system. Under the new system you play in October and that's the end of it. Who is going to get picked on one day form three months ago?

It's pretty much made a system where the OD comp is worthless and the BBL picks our two shorter form teams.

It's not right and at times the recent series against Pakistan showed that there is a distinct difference between OD and 20/20 and respect is not played to that difference. BBL is all about power and clearing the rope, that's great but the role of noddling it around and getting 80 off 80 is very important in OD cricket. That's what the Whites are very good at and going over the top if they have to.

We seem to not value that OD knock anymore. Would Bevan or Hussey get a run anymore? I doubt it.

You'll get more guys getting picked having not played OD roles for their state because the window is so small now. Not fit in October well you miss out. We still need OD players in March though.

Cameron White agrees -

White, Player of the Tournament in two of the past four domestic one-day cups and the leading run-scorer this season, admits his own chances of an international recall seem "a long way away" after he was overlooked for the series in New Zealand.

Top order regulars Steve Smith, David Warner, Usman Khawaja and Mitchell Marsh are all missing the series, but White still wasn't able to force his way into the squad despite scoring a tournament high of 457 runs at 76 in the Matador BBQs One-Day Cup last October.

The 33-year-old says he's focused instead on steering Victoria to a third consecutive Shield title, but added he was often confused by the national selection process.

"It's a glimmer of hope now these days," White said ahead of Victoria's Shield clash against NSW, starting tomorrow in Melbourne.

"It seems like it's a long way away. "I guess you still hold out hope of playing cricket for Australia, like everyone playing domestic cricket. "Just the way selection is going it seems like it's a way off at the moment.

"It seems as though there is a lot of emphasis on Big Bash cricket. Whether that's too much, I haven't spoken to the selectors and I don't know what they take into account.

"Whether it's domestic, Big Bash, Pathway cricket I hear a lot about. I'm not sure what's the most important thing is these days.

"Any time you think you're half a hope to get a game you're always a little bit disappointed. But what do you do? Once the team is picked selectors don't often change their mind.

"I really enjoy playing cricket for Victoria, playing well and winning so that's the focus now."

It's human nature, if Origin was picked in August what you did for two weeks in April would have no bearing. I just think it is unfair and really just playing domestic cricket for the sake of playing domestic cricket because obviously you're not getting a run from performance in that format.

They can't go back to the other way because the BBL won't be touched.

I think they've got it pretty much spot on with what's available. Who would you have Abbott in for? Or would you just suggest including him as an extra player as well?
