OFFICIAL Ben Te'o Resigns

I really don’t know about this, just seems to be a yet another smoke signal that something just isn’t right. From:

-rumours of discontent last year
-Walsh praising Kevie during his GF speech more than Madge
- the rumours about discontent over the summer
- Payne leaving abruptly
- Patty talking about PNG
- the constant attitude problems this team seems to have
- teo walking
-players only meeting about teo leaving which is something not in their control unless they are unified?

I’m not against Madge at all but just seems a lot of little things. What hasn’t helped Madge is the media who dead set out for him to fail.

When it comes to Te’o the point that our defence hasn’t been good is a warranted observation but to counter that is why has the club been so keen to keep him? Why did Billy want him? Why are all these others clubs lining up for him? They all see something in him
You mean the same billy that madge gave an absolute coaching bath in at origin, and just beat the team that he coaches the fb/spine guys at to a premiership and at their home ground?
Ye, he'd know better than madge.... and patty talking about leaving? Listen to his non-fox sports interview on 4bc where he laughs it off. Ive never heard a more genuine and straight forward denial/explanation in my life, bar the haas signing response. Dont let the media get into your brain. Its all complete bs. You can see the fox crew are BURNING and they will stop at nothing bar blood. We are premiers! Madge can **** off whoever he wants, player, staff, **** CONEHEAD and co.

The media agenda is one for the ages for sure, end of the day if we keep winning it goes away we just need to do that. Last week was the best way to start and if it wasn’t for CONEHEAD and Teo that victory would be the headline for the week

How good would a 36-0 win this week be for Madge? No doubt if that occurs there’ll be absolutely nothing said in the media as it won’t suit anyone’s agenda. Braith will mention it on Fox, CONEHEAD will say something like, “Great performance.” The journos will nod their heads and then they’ll move on to the next story.

Do you have a link to that interview?

Ballin will be seamless on the field. He was Te'o eyes in the box and gave the defensive messages to Te'o on the field regarding what he could see up high.

He was very hands on when he coached the Broncos in February, he was on the field before the game and took warm up.

He's a great teacher too.

Even the original was just a vanilla straight bar answer to a question at a presser that has been dressed up - as usual.
In my opinion the original was dressed up but it was also pretty poor from Patty. I understand that players like to say this shit to try and bump up their price but you can do that behind closed doors. It’s not like when they are negotiating the are going to be like “yeah Patty’s great and all but he hasn’t got on camera to say he would be open to other offers so we don’t have to pay him as much”

IMO giving the situation where we had just lost Payne, the media are baying for blood and trying to attack us anyway they can, as a leader and someone who is most likely to be our captain next yeah you just lead with “love The Broncos and can’t see myself playing anywhere else”.

Not trying to be contrarian, but I don't mind Pat being honest. If he were to go on and say "I want to be here forever", and then for whatever reason he does end up playing for another team (which is his right) we'd likely be on him like we were Coates. I understand, different situation in that Coates' comments and his signing elsewhere happened within weeks of each other, but I don't mind a bit of honesty from players in these sorts of situations. Especially from someone like him, who has been impeccable.

Yeah I know not many hold the same view as me on this but I just think as a future captain you don’t need to say that.

I take your point about Coates but for me that wouldn’t change anything with Patty. Like if he was to go somewhere else I would feel the same whether he said in an interview it’s a possibility or he had said I will be here forever, like it makes no difference. I wouldn’t be like, oh yeah he said this is a possibility so all good.

Through all this saga with the comings and goings of forwards and defensive coaches I constantly remind myself of how lucky we are to have a player like Corey Jensen.

Since he's came here he's done nothing but work tirelessly in the Broncos engine room without hardly saying a bad word about anything or anyone.

I have no doubt the news of Haas pulling out would have stiffened his resolve to lift even further this Friday night's derby.

We're so lucky to have such a quiet achiever and luckier still that throughout all this 'drama' he's been quite content to churn out the metres without seeking praise or making a fuss.

He may not be in the class of Haas, but he's not far off in terms of metres gained and he's never once made such a fuss about leaving/staying/pay rises and the like.

Hope he puts in a MOM performance on Friday he deserves some love from the media. He's one guy who won't miss (and never needed) the coaching of the souths bound whinger.

Phil Gould has weighed in on the Madge/Te'o situation.

"I don't know what's happened here - disagreements between coaches happen all the time everywhere, but you don't hear about the majority of it," Gould said.

"That's why you have coaches - if everyone agreed, it's not a very good situation either - but they've got to be able to handle the differences in opinion.

"At the end of the day, what you want in your staff is that everyone will support the final decision, whether it's their decision or not. Even if it might not be your preference, you still support the cause and if things go wrong, it's not saying 'I told you so'.

"Differences of opinion are healthy and differences in thought processes are healthy.

"The head coach, if he's recruited the right staff, he wants push back from assistant coaches. You can't just be a yes man to the head coach and let him get away with everything he wants, nor should the head coach ever want that.

"I don't know what the difference of opinion here was. If it was just as simple as 'no, we don't want you to do the Origin', I can't believe that would lead to the coach leaving.

"You'd really have to sit down and talk to Michael Maguire … at the end of the day, it's one little ship and one little captain and he's the boss and he's got to make calls.

"He's the head coach and he's got to make decisions. If you're gonna be in a position of leadership and think everyone's gonna like you, you're kidding - it doesn't work like that.

"The bottom line is whatever happened in that situation, the head coach said 'no, we're doing this' … that's what leadership is, you've got to make decisions that make people unhappy and sometimes you don't get the chance to explain your call.

"Whatever has happened here, at some stage the head coach has had to make a call and it hasn't suited Ben, so he has made the decision to quit and he's gone."

Basically, what's happened between Madge and Ben having a disagreement is common among coaching staff's and ultimately what the coach says goes, he's the one that makes the call, not the assistants.

why has the club been so keen to keep him? Why did Billy want him? Why are all these others clubs lining up for him? They all see something in him

Broncos signed a contract with B Teo for 4 years !
After the Titans came sniffing around .
They obviously thought he was good at his job .

I prefer the honesty as well. We all know its the money that talks, its refreshing for a player to admit that imo. Cant stand these players who bang on about how much they love a club, they want to stay forever, its not about the money then they go where the money is.

I think Jensen needs to lift .
He`s back to running the ball at 3/4 pace . I criticised him for similar early last season . Low impact .

I will be interested to watch the impact Ballin has on Paix and Mozer, he helps the hookers a lot and being out there on the field will help them. It's one thing to help with video on Tuesday but different to be there in real time in the middle.

He did a lot of work with Bukowski out on the field before the Sunshine Coast game and Souths game.

Even if Madge fails spectacularly this year and is booted from the club (would be a mistake) he's already succeeded btw, no amount of media BS or spin can take away what he's done for the Broncos.

All the talk about how Kevvie set up the squad and could've won the comp, well why didn't he?

Absolutely. Love Kev, he turned the club around and Madge wouldn't have been able to do what he did if Kev didn't do the ground work. But the premiership itself is Madge's badge of honour. The NSWRL can get ****ed, he's a club legend forever.
