Bennett: NRL don't know what they're doing

There is player burn out but no ones forcing coaches not to rest their stars through out the season.

That goes out to the other point Bennett is making where the NRL charges the fans a ridiculous amount of money to go to the football and there are weekends where the fans are getting ripped off. It's that simple. Sure as hardcore fans can get through it, but think of fans on the fringe who only know of like 5 players. If they go to a game and see that, they're out of the game for good.

Unless they're a Broncos fan and realise how bad the Reds and Lions are going at the moment.

The clubs are being stolen blind. They should get millions more each

I don't agree with that at all. Take a second to think about what the NRL actually has to fund.

Currently, the 16 NRL clubs reportedly receive somewhere around 30 - 40% of the games total revenue. With the remainder, the NRL has to fund:

--- the QRL, NSWRL, CRL and all the footy programs and comps that those bodies run (from the ISC and NSW cup right down through the grades to the grass roots)

--- gameday officials wages for every round of the competition plus trials plus finals

--- ground rentals from the origin and finals games

--- catering and wages of venue staff (e.g. security, ushers, ground announcers etc) for all origin and finals matches.

--- pregame entertainment for all origin and finals footy.

--- insurances

--- Marketing/Advertising expenses.

And thats just off the top of my head. There's probably alot more I'm not thinking about.

But the clubs don't care about any of that. They just care about how much they get ...

I was referring to the clubs 'take' of the Origin series. A seperate thing where the clubs supply the players but get bugger all back except broken players and higher wage demands

Clubs will always demand more money. Unfortunately, that's because the NRL are so happy to give handouts and bail clubs out when they need it. Look at the Titans.

That's a venture that should have been written off and a loss. Unless someone private bought it.

When the Sharks had no money, yet still built their training centre. The NRL should have said, too fucking bad.

If it was up to me Origins would be played on Sunday nights.

2 club games on Friday night.
2 club games on Saturday night.
Origin on Sunday night.
No Monday night football.
8 teams have a bye.

Essentially the same as we have now except Origin brought forward from Wednesday to Sunday and no club games on Sunday.

No reduction in the number of games, no need to extend the season, and all players have AT LEAST a 4 day break before Friday night football the following week.

Bit misleading that Nashy as a lot of people do not realise that the Sharks own their ground, not just a paddock but 300 million dollars worth of ground ! So the NRL may have simply had a business deal with them. The Sharks have the collateral.
