Bennett turns up the heat on Hunt

For mine, this is Milfords learning season at 5/8 and even if we progress no further it will have been a great year both for Milford and the Broncos. We are a force once again and not one of us on here could have wished for more at the seasons start. I am a supporter of WBs idea that Milford will go on to be an excellent 5/8 for us. I'm also sick of hearing how milf should be a fullback, it's over and been done to death.

Back on Hunt, unless he goes to the next level very bloody soon he will always be remembered as being a competent half and little more. I doubt he could actually achieve the next level on a sustained basis where his bad games are still of a good standard. I hope I'm wrong but challenging him is definitely correct as he must raise his game and if he can't he should be shown the door and development of a new half begun.

Wow. Hunt is still a young half that is still developing his game, yet is one of the top halves in the game. There are things he needs to work on in his game yet his progression has shown no signs that he can't keep developing; but despite all that he should be shown the door? This team would be fucked without Hunt and if the club was so stupid as to show him the door he would be snapped up in a second and that club would laugh in our fucking face.

Milford has made a shit load of errors from just having the ball passed to him. Imagine how many bombs he'd be dropping at the back. It would be 2014 all over again. Also you're all kidding. It's their first year together and we have spent most of the season as first on the ladder and we have rarely lost!

Hunt needs to stop passing the ball to Hodges in pressure situations. Hodges has butchered a number of last chance opportunities this year. Hunt needs to take more responsibility and trust some other players with the big plays. He hit Oates with a sweet ball to beat Penrith and done it himself against the Roosters. Hodges is good for some plays, but don't just throw him the ball when the going gets tough.

Absolutely, unfortunately I don't think some are joking...

Hunt is nowhere near the top in those stats. Regardless, BP already said it, but I seriously do not understand what TA and LBA have to do with organisation, pressure and control.
I would bet we are one of the lowest ranked teams in repeat sets for example, which would be a better metric for it.
In terms of consistency, you could say that Hunt is below average with his 5th tackle options on a very regular basis.

I'm not trying to bag Hunt at all. I think he's very valuable, but not as the controlling half he needs to be, due to having Milford next to him, who is even less of a controlling half. Despite how well the latter has been going at 5/8, I still maintain there is nothing he has done there, that he couldn't do from fullback, where I would have him play. (let's not bring the Boyd argument into this please)

As weird as it may sound, I think Hunt would be better served playing 5/8 alongside a player like Adam Reynolds or even Trent Hodkinson, because it would allow him to do what he does best. Use his skills and vision to grasp the moments, and leave the kicking to the side line and grubbers for repeat sets to his halfback.

There aren't many players out there like Locky, who was a fantastic clutch player, but also very capable in controlling a game. I'm not sure Hunt can get there, but I certainly hope so!

Maybe why he's prefect for origin

I don't blame Hunt here, i blame Hodges. He is forcing.

I think we need a better emphasis on repeat sets. Would certainly be a complementary tactic to our no line speed / wall defence tactic

I wish Milford would take more kicks in the opposition 20 as he has a good grubber. I should clarify my previous assertion Milford should go to fullback is not because i prefer him there I think he makes a much better half then fullback which makes sense as he has only really played one year of fullback. The reason I would be for the move is because I think hunt makes a better five eighth than milford and having him play first receiver nullifies most of his skills and highlights his poor kicking game. Either that or maybe we should play with split halves.

The more I think about it I think we should drop Hunt now, we still have time to get someone to do his job for tonight and next week. He's hopeless and will never get better.

It was such tempting bait but you only caught one though. Poor form.

one thing that our halves do poorly is build pressure through repeat sets ... It is something that we really need to fix about our game

The amusing part is that we've been the best attacking side this season and we apparently have 2 halves who can't kick or pass the ball.. That's an amazing stat imo, someone send it to David Middleton.

It is time Hunt actually stepped up and became a top shelf half. He could learn a lot from the allegedly worst half in the game, Jeff Robson. Hunt has patches where he takes the right options but his meaningful moments pale into insignificance when contrasted against his standard 5 th tackle option, namely a poorly placed straight up and down kick. He needs to work on his Allan langer style chip or dribble in behind the defence and heaven forbid, the occasional drop out. His form has been very patchy lately.

doesn't mean that they don't have room for improvement ... and 5th tackle options is one of the areas that really let our halves down

You don't think the Broncos were a good side from 2001-05, vert?

Dragons 2009 or 2011?

Cant comment on anything before 2008, Dragons won the comp when it was their time, the team mentally checked out in for the entire second half of 2011 and how he managed to get the Knights to the prelim in 2013 is still a mystery.

Dragons 09 is obviously the one people are worried about, I don't believe for a second we'd play poorly at our first home final in four years at Suncorp provided we finish top two.

BTW I remember reading your opinion on the 02 prelim against the Roosters, we got shafted by the refs that night right?

One of the commentators brought up a stat a few weeks ago saying out of all of the teams we were the team more likely to score when in the opposition 20. I know I'd much prefer a try over a repeat set.

At least Hunt has patches where he takes the right option. Robson is terrible and the Sharks are Steven Bradbury-ing their way through this season, thanks to the "Bermuda Triange" and the luxury of backdated suspensions for illegal drug use.
