3. Corey Parker - You know I've struggled with the votes when I give Parker the 3 points. A typical game from him meaning he played well across the 80 without ever being too outstanding. Just a couple of moments here and there compromised by some weak defensive efforts and another costly mistake - albeit, I thought it was a strip.

2. Josh Hoffman - Seemed like the only player willing to give it their all with each run when we were in trouble. Scored a nice try and was unlucky not to have a double.

1. Peter Wallace - A strange pick but I couldn't justify giving it to another forward and that knock on from Norman basically ruled him out for me. Thought Pete covered up for Kahu quite nicely at times in defence and came up with some good long distance kicks. Those chip kicks sucked though.

Porthoz, what did you see in Glenn's performance? Or were you struggling like I was to award points. Looking back, I'm not at all flash about my Wallace pick.

I though Glenn was one of the better forwards to be honest, he ran good lines and ran them with purpose, especially compared to what he had been doing in previous games. But yeah, like you, I wasn't too sure who to vote for besides Hoffman, and I didn't want to go with the default Parker, especially because he missed goals...

My problem with Glenn at this stage is that he doesn't put his hand up enough. Only 10 runs and 23 tackles all game in a performance where we lacked muscle and grunt work.

That's an aspect of Hook's gameplan that needed altering, his over-use of the backs. Last year it was fine and dandy to use Beale, Hoffman, Copley, Yow Yeh and Reed as battering rams inside our own half because it played to their strengths. Attempting to do the same with Maranta & Norman isn't an effective way to use either player. Maranta is just too lean, his one and only strength on the wing is that he's safe under the high ball, that is basically it and having him constantly put his hand up for a hit up is a sure fire way to lose momentum.

I'd like to see an Alex Glenn put his hand up and come searching in-field more if the other forwards are tired. Clearly he has a bigger motor than most given he's been going 80 for 3 seasons now and 10 runs for a player of his calibre is certainly not enough.

I'd like to see Glenn set up to run holes on the edge more, and play out wide as well

That's what he was doing last year, and doing it well. This year they just keep using him as a decoy, passing out to Norman. Or as an extra sort of ball player, he's been passing quite a bit in recent weeks. In their defence it's been working, Hoffman has been dy-no-mite, but you'd still like to see more variety.

Glenn always plays wide, he barely comes into do any of the grunt work.

He was very good against the Titans - I'm just going to chalk Friday up as an off game.

Hope he really steps up this week against the Kiwis.
