Hodges
Hoffman
Hunt

The first two need no explanation. Tossed up between gillett and Oates for the last place but all things considered hunt was great last night. In his first game in his preferred spot he was excellent. Showed vision that I haven't seen from a broncos playmaker since locky. That first try was brilliant, not only the superb cut out pass to Oates but then to back him up in support, well done Benny

3. Hodges
2. Hoffman
1. Gillett
This! ^

3. Hodges - How can he not get the 3? Give him 6!! Bullet passes, game winning trys, yelling at Maranta, well deserved 3 points.
2. Hoffman - Saved our ass so many times in defence, if there was someway to merge him and Hodges into one player we'd have the best fullback in the game
1. Gillett - Showed some nice touches and if he can maintain his workrate and choose his moments better he can become a really great backrower for us.

1. Hunt - he tailed off in the second half, but his form in the first half is what got us our points, and ultimately, the win. He was doing everything you want your halfback to do, and I love his enthusiasm every time we score a try, brings out the good old fist pump with a beaming smile and pats on the back all round. Love this fella's attitude.

Gillett and Oates unlucky to miss out.

3. Hodges, the hero we need, not one we deserve
2. Hoffman
1. Gillett (despite a few ordinary hero plays in the 2nd half)

Hoffman was superb in defence for the most part (other than dropping a bomb) and returning the ball. Was good to see him and Hodges swap around in the attacking 50. I'd like to see Griffin expand his style and get some offloads going for him.

3- Hodgo
2- Gillett

Watch some 2006 replays. Don't know why he didn't get to keep the fb spot especially once hunt left. He had proven he was the best fullback in the game that year (most run meters ever and he was on début for fullback.)

I think you you should actually look carefully at the figures of Gillett's work rate.

What is it with the Gillett criticisms on these forums? Just can't figure it out. Now that he had a good half getting him a bit more ball, he looked dangerous every time he touched it.

I think you misunderstood. It sounded like a complement to me. Choosing moments better in itself could mean stuffing around and doing not much until an opportunity appears. I think he was saying that he should keep these opportunities in mind but continue the hard work until those opportunities come about. As he did in the Cowboys game.

I appreciate your level headed analysis M, and I understand where you are coming from.

For mine, Gillett has lifted his work rate enormously as his stats are showing, but much more importantly to me is the whole question of opportunities. I am so hoping that Gillett and Hunt conspire together to work plays all over the park, but especially the short flat pass close to their line.

I mean Gillett can be one of the best hole runners in the game but sadly, except for one play from Prince in one game, he is basically playing Bennetball in Griffindor - a team of props
