OFFICIAL Blake Mozer re-signs

This is an interesting one for me. He looks like he could be anything, reminds me a LOT of Hodges though to be fair BUT I wonder what his pathway will be.

If Herbie kills it once he tries out at fullback, Cobbo then probably tracks to be a centre and with Staggs as well, I am not sure where Mariner fits in. If Herbie fails at fullback, then Cobbo likely gets the gig and then of course, either Herbie stays and Mariner is blocked or Herbie goes and Mariner's pathway is there.

I am not complaining and I hope the kid is willing to wait, develop and see because this is a nice position to be in again as a club where we can not properly develop these kids and then worry about it when the time comes.
Herbie would be a great winger

I'm willing to give Herbie his shot at Fullback. It makes his tendency to not pass a little less potent (so long as he's providing good kick returns), and putting him in a position he wants to play makes him more likely to resign at the end of his upgrade.

Nothing wrong with the guy who floats this try assist:

I don't want to see him in the NRL team anytime soon

I really don't get it. Since Te Maire got the custodian spot, our defence has improved out of sight, and he's slowly getting more influence in our attack with ball playing skills none of the "more exciting" youngsters have shown.

He's only just returned from a long recovery path, and is still gaining confidence, but is already having a very positive impact in the team, yet because he isn't filling highlight reels, he's not getting his due credit and people are already looking to replace him.

I'm certainly not looking to replace him this year, but it's only fair to give herbie a full offseason at fullback to see what he could do. As he does the potential to be an elite fullback

Because he's a natural 5/8, he will always look great in the attacking 20, it's his work at the back which has surprised a few

Why is it "only fair?" He had last offseason and didn't beat Tesi or Jamayne out of the position. Have you ever seen him play fullback? Have you seen him display skills that make him a fullback, or have you seen him lack skills one would like in a fullback?

Why not leave him where he is? He's only starting to get the hang of centre. Both edges and the back are not currently broken. They haven't looked this good in many years.

Yep, he's still underrated and underpaid. We have to make sure the Warriors don't poach him if Walsh is getting itchy feet.

He got Covid last pre season I think, whatever it was he missed out on the full pre season. And to answer your other question, he has an elite running game, he's superb in the air and a passing game can be developed.

I do believe broncoshq were complaining about putting te Marie Martin at fullback, and now we act as if we knew all along he would be elite. So I'd say give him a chance.

Why not leave him you say? I thought you didn't want him at centre for one? Secondly, we have no fullbacks coming up through the grades, but we have mariner coming through at centre. 3rdly, part of herbies re-signing was a promise to get a pre season at fullback, this doesn't mean a hell of a lot if we refer to staggs. But we don't have much to lose giving a go at fullback in pre season, but we face losing him if we don't give him ago.

Yeah I really don’t see why Herbie is entitled to a shot at fullback - other than the club apparently promising him a preseason to trial there.

As you said, he’s had opportunity to impress with his fullback skills and he got overlooked by 2 putrid fullback options in Isaako and Niu, and a 5/8 who had been out of the game for 3 years with a head injury.

Im not against him getting a chance to stake his claim but I feel like Martin is being thoroughly disrespected. I can’t remember who I was arguing with the other day trying to say that we would’ve won all those games without Martin. I understand I equally can’t say we wouldn’t have won without him but I can show how our tries conceded got cut in half as soon as we had a fullback who can organise a defensive line.

Ryley Smith the hooker that made the Australian team last season and kept Mozer on the bench. He's already playing Flegg for Penrith this year.
Who do you think is the better of the two?

I like Martin at the back, don't get me wrong, and I certainly wouldn't be moving him this season when things have clicked, but his destiny is 5/8. Its his natural position and he would be playing even better if he was there.

2023 I fully expect 1. Farnworth 6. TMM to happen.

Keep it on topic guys. If you want to discuss the merits of Herbie and TMM at fullback, take it to the appropriate thread.

I watched Moz in his GF win he looked fairly unflappable and was a step or two ahead of the rest. The one thing that intrigues me though is will he be able to hold his own in the middle when he makes his step up.

I'm sure he's watched CS9 a lot to work out how to survive in the middle with an accountant's build. I'm also sure he'll be working with the Broncos strength and conditioning staff to put on another few kilos of muscle mass, but that's easier said than done for people who have an ectomorphic body type.

This for me is my main concern for him.
