GRAND FINAL WEEK Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm

Bit warm in Sydney today, probably a bit cooler than conditions forecast for Sunday. Don't know if the Storm have done any hot weather acclimatisation or training but that's another factor for them to consider. We know Brisbane will be used to it.

So Talty becomes the 18th and that means Arthars drops out. So crazy how within a season it’s someone else’s time to shine and it’s not yours anymore. That’s footy for ya.

Everytime I think about Sunday I get so nervous lol They need this win, I don’t think they can handle any more heartbreak! I hope they get some rest and some good training this week, the interruptions and events will be distracting so makes me worried that they may start slow but I believe in them!! It’s their time.

I'm actually starting to think...go with me here...the extra two days might actually be detrimental to Melbourne.

They will come out breathing fire like Penrith did, there is no doubt they are going to hit us with everything they have and we will need to fight tooth and nail to hold on but...after that...who knows.

They've only played two pretty easy games for finals and haven't had a tough game in a month which ironically...was against us.

We are 1-1 this year and both games were not really a reflection of where both teams are at because we got smashed with injuries game 1, they got smashed with injuries game 2. So where are we both at?

I thought we looked better than them in the first one until we lost three players in a minute. We also looked better in the second one but the injuries ruined whatever chance they had.

First game we didn't have Karapani, Piakura, Willison, Smoothy or Paix...but we did have The Difference. They didn't have Warbrick, Howarth or Hughes. We lost Mam, Reynolds and Cobbo when we were looking like we were getting on top until the intercept. We were also lucky not to give away an intercept against Penrith.

Second game we also didn't have Shibs, Mam, Reynolds or Willison...but we did have...The Difference. They didn't have Howarth, Utoikamanu, Grant or Blore and lost Hughes early.

For the GF, they won't have NAS and we won't have The Difference but we do have Willison and that is significant.

Get this man a seat on NRL 360. He can replace Buzz. I just need you to talk like him if you can..

I'll start voice coaching you:-

Papali'i = Pah pah lee hee

I don't think it mattered who was dropped. It was always going to be a big ugly harsh call.

Lots of reasons to pick Paix and Smoothy as you have mentioned. They also just have alot more experience at NRL level. Also Smoothy will be cut after the 2023 loss and this is his chance at redemption. Leaving for the super league next year this is probably his last ever attempt at an NRL premiership. He's got a shitload to be hungry for.

IN madge we trust!
He's also ex storm

Interestingly, James Graham said that when he spoke with Shane Webcke the other day and Webcke said that he found coming back from his broken arm, the GF was way harder than the PF. Graham said that when Hughes did his arm in the first place, Brissy just ran straight at him. Hughes should not expect to have anything near as easy against Brissy as he had against Cronulla.

The last thing our emotional team needs is 2 extra days to sit around and think about it.

We’ve been battle hardened by 3 monster games in a row, we had a break last week. A shorter turn around means everyday you will be too busy to play the GF over in your head too much. Patty will have had 3 weeks off, Reyno, Mam, X are all back from a break. Payne is Payne. We will be fresh enough

I think 7 days suits us just fine

Shouldn't be too much surprises in the team list. Only real unknown is if Mam is starting, and whether Hunt plays 9 or 14 if he is.

Even then, will we really know or is Madge maybe pulling a swiftie.
