GRAND FINAL WEEK Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm

It'll be interesting to see if storm can go up a gear. Both our final games were higher intensity than anything I've seen from the storm this year. If we can do it again we'll dominate yardage. Also storm traditionally play there best games all year long and don't ramp it up much for finals. Last year was a good example with Penrith walking all over them. I expect us to have more time and space than we did against Penrith with the deciding factor being how we control Grant.

Thats the thing though, if we play at our best - we beat them. But if we're off, Melbourne won't beat themselves. They've got a killer spine, and if we give them an inch they'll capitalise.

Can't have any lapses, and I think this time not let them take such a big lead like we gave to the Raiders and Penrith.

We gotta come out early and blow them off the park - but more importantly score points while we have the advantage.

Let's keep it that way.

Surprising though. I cant remember last years grand final - where there no kicks to him? How did Penrith stop him?

Both teams at their best, the only positions we "beat them" in is front row, one of our centers, HB and FB ...and even then HB and FB are debatable IMO.

The aerial threat from Coates is going to be on full display, we showed our hand a few weeks back and the officials will be watching for it. I wouldn't be surprised if someone from the Storm mentioned it before Sunday to drive the point home.

The teams just match up so ****ing well if they play to potential. Quite sick of that tbh...so far, we've been in 2 of the top 10 GF's of all time. Wouldn't mind being on the winning end of one for once.

Our entire backrow, forward pack and halves are better than there's. The only advantage they have over us is at hooker (but that goes away once Hunt moves there).

But more importantly, as a team, we have another level in us - they dont.

I'm talking at their best....

Backrow: Debatable.
Forwards: Definitely have them covered.
Halves: I think Reynolds shits all over Hughes but Ezra/Hunt V Munster? I guess it depends which Munster shows up.

The next level: That's the unknown. I haven't been convinced by Melbourne for most of the year if I'm honest...I scoffed at experts tipping them to win the comp all year, but here we are...the GF and they're just as big of a chance as we are. Do they have that extra gear when the going gets tough? That's the biggest question for mine. Fitness wise, I think we might have them covered if we can just contain them.

As much as I hate to say it, a lot will come down to officiating unfortunately. Munster and Grant in particular will flop around, throw their hands up etc every tackle. It's just whether the ref falls for it unfortunately.

Matty Johns talking about Melbourne having plans for Haas and Walsh and they'll stop them and the Broncs are done as a result.

I mean...will we not have a plan for their gun players? You don't think teams have targeted Haas and Walsh before?

Keep writing us off media, keep writing us off. The egg on faces when we win by 40 will be beautiful.

They have to write something mate.

If Melbourne only target Walsh and Haas this game, we win by a record margin.

This GF week feels different to '23 and '15.
I live Bayside of Brisbane (technically not in Brisbane) and I don't recall seeing as many Broncos flags out the front of peoples houses within 100m of my house or anywhere around Brisbane for any GF.

Talking to people around here (clients and pub) after round 27 they were quietly confident of going deep, after Canberra were more confident about beating penref at home. After Sunday I'm feeling the entire SEQ is loudly confident like the golden years.

As many have said the boys look ready for business, they've been here before and know how to do it.

I think the purple cheats had a game plan for penref this year, but not us, they went full strength last round (unnecessarily) to keep us out. They would have been shitting themselves in the last 3 minutes on Sunday at Harry Grants.

Unfortunately I know a few storm supporters and they all claim they don't care who wins, they know whats coming!

LETS GO!!

I think having Atkins probably helps. During finals games, he seems to only call it if its really obvious - or someone drops the ball - we nust need to be smart enough to adapt during the game. The escort stuff worries me. I don't know how we stop Coates otherwise.
