AFL Brisbane Lions - 2025 AND 2024 Premiers

Man I don’t know what to say and whatever I do so won’t be nice. Putrid.

I haven’t seen us play that bad in 10 years. Geelong were excellent, everything they did turned to gold because they wanted it more. The umpiring was absolutely abysmal and way more in favour of us than them. That Rayner trash in half time should have the lot of them sacked, that was embarrassing for us.

The only good player we had was Andrews. I don’t know how many times WAshcroft kicked it straight to Geelong. We haven’t played that bad in years and to do it in a final, yuck.

Maybe this year is a bridge too far, maybe it was the wake up call we needed, I don’t know. We were never in it. Our forward line should all be sacked, no pressure whatsoever and you can’t carry Gallop, Cameron and Day. My gosh, Day. I have nothing positive to say about his lack of effort, if I had tomatoes they would have been thrown. At least Gallop has the excuse that he’s a kid.

Did our midfield win a single clearance? Did we win a single one on one? I don’t know what happens from here but that was not the Lions I’m accustomed to.

we never recovered after Zorko’s first shocker after our first goal. As great as he is, he’s getting a bit carried away with his risky kicks into the corridor. Not sure why we wanted to go there from the get go, seems like the lions were too cocky and thought they would blow the cats away early. Needed to grind them down first with our uncontested marking game.

Hate to admit it but our forward line is complete trash without hipwood.

Yeah good calls. Zorko was symptomatic of the whole team. We had moments and just fumbled it or kicked straight to them or took too long or took the wrong option most of the game. Just seems like our heads were somewhere else and Geelong turned up like their life depended on it.

I’m not giving up on us and I’m hoping this is the shock to the system we needed but wow it’s concerning, we haven’t been beaten up like that since the Leppitch years.
 
How good is this! GWS doing a Lions to Hawthorn.

That is huge. Freo have been running down teams all year and they got them despite giving up a huge lead.

I'm legit worried for next week now, they will have a fair chunk of support. NQ v Brissy feels in their first final against us.

GC will tire, they've had a lot of travel but man, if we play anything like last night, it will be over well and truly before we even have a sniff.

Wow, good on the GC. Hardwick is some coach isn't he.

The lions should be pumped up for this after getting touched up by the suns last time but I fear we could be out of gas.

Yeah my fear too. We will know pretty quickly next week. I really hope we haven't hit the wall and it was just a blip against a side that was basically perfect, I'm just not sure.

The only thing that gives me hope is that the Cats could not have played better and we could not have played worse and even so, we still had an outside sniff into the fourth quarter. That and the Suns have had a pretty taxing couple of weeks, they also might well fall off a cliff if we get on top.

This is far more intriguing than I thought it would be 48 hours ago.

We have also shown a pretty nice ability to bounce back this year after a poor performance. BUT we do need to change it up and go smaller, we need more run from our mids and forwards. Cannot pick Day and Gallop and expect to win.

Regardless, we need to tag Rowell and Anderson, we nullify them, we win. Plain and simple.

The person I fear the most is Damien Hardwick. Experienced finals coach very capable of a master stroke. who knows what he’ll cook up.

Yeah and GC have some really good players in key positions. That said, even with all our outs, our best is still better than theirs. They are 1-2 seasons too early even with Hardwick I feel.
 
Well…we might go out in straight sets too, hopefully not but don’t laugh at them yet.
