He was set up to fail.

You could argue that a good playmaker can turn a team around but we were so bad he had no hope of success here. I still believe that if we had some older heads (that weren't Boyd/Glenn) and a semi-competent half partner he could have been good for us. Oh well.

I disagree. Milford is the half you’re describing and he’s been impotent in attack for us for close to 2 years now.

In theory they should have worked, but there has just been so many reasons why they didn’t.

I could be remembering wrong, but I thought prior to the rule changes he was a considerably better player. That could of course just be the Melbourne magic powder though.

Totally agree. Our squad balance was so off and still is. Those players could fit in well in other systems but the combination never worked. Add to the leadership vacuum we have had for a long time.We now have a solid 7 in reynolds but our 1 6 and 9 are hardly top 8 at this stage. Staggs, Turpin and Niu/Cobbo are far from established first grade players in those positions. If reynolds gets injured we are in a lot of trouble next year. We need the best players in key positions which we haven't had in a very long time.
 
Zero runs for zero metres. Constantly sprinting out of the line and leaving large defensive holes to be exploited…

“Saf’s mum is terminally ill, she has been on life support for the last eight months. That‘s made it even tougher for me. She has been paralysed and hasn’t been able to talk."

“There were plenty of nights where I went to bed thinking we might get a phone call through the night. Saf‘s mum got Covid a couple of days before New Year’s, just after our son was born. She has been in hospital on life support ever since."

“She has copped the worst of it really. I haven‘t seen anything like that. The doctors over there reckon she is one of the worst cases they have seen. That was another part of the decision to go over there and be closer to Saf‘s family. My partner doesn’t have any family here so that was another major reason to make the move to England.”
