Broncos’ biggest nemesis

We're too big and too good to be bothered with a nemesis.

Im sure a lot of our players are the nemesis of other clubs though.

Based on comments from mouth breathing facebook comments... Reecey is apparently the nemesis of everyone outside Brisbane... and also masculinity!!

Yea its pretty much Staggs for the Dolphins, and Walsh for everyone else.

Maybe Hunt for the Dragons lol

When a team has a dud of a player the broncos makes an offer that team and supporters get pissed off when that player becomes amazing with us we become hated on

I have to say Feldt is a pretty decent shout... so many times he was miles out of form, but would turn it on against the broncos... not to mention he milked better than DWZ for penalties... he also used to talk about putting up torp kick offs, which I think led to Benny's drop in the 2015 GF

I remember there was a BHQ most hated poll happening (was it @pennywisealfie 🤔🤔) and Feldt was definitely firming as one of the favourites to win it, but I don't think it ever finished!!!

Edit here it is: https://broncoshq.com/threads/bhq-countdown-most-hated-players.45159/

Absolutely blue balling the entirety of BHQ!!
It's a decent shout but he wouldn't be the first Cowboy let alone first player that comes to mind.

Still 23 games, 15 tries, 10 wins including the GF.

Billy Slater 30 Games, 25 Tries (easily the most against any opposition club), 23 Wins.

Cameron Smith, 38 Games, 246 Points (easily the most against any opposition club), 30 Wins.

Greg Inglis, 21 Games, 14 Tries, 13 Wins.

So as much as I've seen GI run around the Broncos, I may have to reconsider his placement.

Probably a lesser player who has always been a thorn in the Broncos side. Josh Addo-Carr 15 Games, 13 Wins, 14 Tries. Doesn't matter where he goes, he always causes Brisbane headaches.

I'm not sure if it was ever a single storm player... it was more the system that was the storm so in that sense the nemesis would be Bellamy... and to be honest that probably is the correct answer to the thread.

Storm players have spoken about Bellamy getting the team up specifically for broncos games... he's changed his tactics around restings the last few years to make sure he's not going into that last game vs broncos handicapped... 2023 both team rolled out reserve grade squads.

I think he sticks out as he made us look proper silly at times in those wins, and wasn't always about scoring tries. He just dominated. I remember especially the games the seasons after he was rumoured to be signing with us and he just bullied us from memory.

In more recent times someone like Royce hunt comes to mind, I remember him having a big impact against us a couple years back for the sharks and he took Payne's knee out the other week.
There's a few others like that who are just body types/play styles that we have hard trouble against.

Jake Granville also comes to mind when you think of those cowboy battles

110% it has to be Bellamy and any Melbourne Storm team since 2007 up until 2024. Easily.

2025, we finally slayed our biggest nemisis.

Benny Elias, those early Broncos v Balmain games were just too hard for Brisbane but I think the Tigers taught them how to win and how forwards need to play, so many of the Tigers tries were through the middle and chains of passing that Brisbane weren't skillful enough or fit enough to stop.

Balmain gave the Broncos their first loss and at Lang Park, won the first five games against Brisbane too. Just bashed them.

There was always drama, Dowling sent off in 1990, Wally accused of eye gouging, Alf and Kerrod sin binned in the same game, Wally doing his hammy playing lock.

Elias was at the centre of all that, he scored tries in the first two games, kicked field goals in the next two and was at the centre of everything.

There was one send off and 10 sin bins in their first six games- Jack, Miles, Pobjie, Roach, Le Man, Langer, Walters, Gee, Miles and Sironen all sin binned and Dowling sent.

They went from undefeated in six games to losing two of their next three.
