I am pretty sure cows sleep upright so I reckon Horses do as well. You don't call it cow tipping for nothing.

Cows and horses sleep lying down, sometimes they stretch out like they are dead... they do go into a sort of a trance in the dark if there is no room to sleep on the ground and perhaps thats where the cow tipping thing comes in. But we have live stock and I promise you they don't sleep standing up.

Weird. I pretty much grew up on a dairy farm, and plenty of them slept standing. Same with my grandfather's horses.
