BRONCOS CEO Paul White says the club is confident they are about to re-sign several of their star players, including strike centre James Roberts.

As was revealed by The Courier-Mail , Tautau Moga is set to leave Red Hill next season to join the Knights, with young forward Herman Ese’ese on the verge of following him out the door.

But White is optimistic that the Broncos will be able to retain other big-name players in the coming weeks, with Roberts, Alex Glenn, Jordan Kahu, Benji Marshall and skipper Darius Boyd still among those off-contract.

White said that Boyd’s future should be secured within the next month, while other contracts were close to being finalised.

“We’re close to a number of announcements,” White said.

“There’s no doubt there’s interest in all the players we have coming off contract. We’re working hard to retain our players. It’s a challenge but it’s a good challenge to have.”

One of the players the Broncos are working hard to keep is Roberts.

The Brisbane speedster is being considered for a two to three-year deal, after his management revealed earlier this year that they won’t be looking outside of the Broncos, who have stuck by him through some off-field troubles.

For the Broncos, they wanted to be sure he maintained his good off-field behaviour this season before re-signing, but White said they were becoming increasingly satisfied with Roberts’ demeanour, particularly in his community work.

It was good to see Roberts the other day in involved in that event. Whatever it was

Such a shame to see Ese'ese leave he has been on fire so far this season

Glad to hear the Jet is planning to stay as there have been some whispers that he may be considering a move to Sydney. Hopefully the likes of Arrow, Kahu and Marshall follow suit.

Arrow to be a titan or eel soon . Ese esse is the better one anyhow , fai and offa aren't certain to stay either.

Arrow is undecided about his future. Comparing him to Herman is like comparing Tyrone Peachey to Shane Tronc. Again, it is hardly panic stations, players move on every year, it is part and parcel of modern Rugby League.

Im not panicking its only footy. Really ! peachy and tronc are miles apart , arrow and herman r much closer. Maybe stronger in few different areas but not completely different. Modern rugby is about keeping your good players.

It's also about managing your salary cap to keep a balanced squad ...

And if you start paying your bench/fringe players twice to three times their value ... then the only place you'll be going in September is vacation

Ese'ese - Gone
Moga - Gone
Bird - Coming (Confirmed)
Roberts - Likely
Boyd - As good as confirmed
Milford - Confirmed
Fai - Unknown
Arrow - Likely Gone
Joffa - Unknown
Hunt - Gone
Kahu - Likely stay
Glenn - Likely Stay
Thaiday - Likely retire

As much as I really, really rate Arrow, if we can keep Fai and Joffa, with Bird coming and Roberts to stay along with Milf and Boyd, I'd say that is a fairly successful recruitment and retention campaign. Though it all hinges on whether Fai AND Joffa/Arrow stay. If we lose Glenn and Kahu, it would suck but it also isn't the end of the world.

I have a feeling TPJ is going to be our next lock, so I can see Arrow leaving for sure. Need to keep at least one of Ofa/Ese'ese/Fai to have a decent front row rotation though.

With Roberts now being likely we need to start looking at the props.

Given the barren wasteland that is quality available front rowers I'm thinking Joffa and Fai are almost priority re-signings.

With the outs we're seeing this year Joffa should realise he has a legitimate opportunity to settle in as a long term option for broncos.

Sims, Joffa and Fai for the next few years as front row rotation along with Blair until he retires isn't the worst looking front row rotation. This assumes TPJ remains in the middle switching between prop and lock.

Also as soon as the salary cap is announced we need to lock TPJ in long term
