Broncos facing tough times

In fairness to the club I think they signed prince because it was plainly obvious that Norman wasn't ready to be the 6 yet. It seems pretty obvious that they though give him a year or two at fullback to increase his vision and awareness. I don't think that they banked on him cracking the sads and leaving and to be completely honest that sums up corey Norman. Instead of digging in and trying to be better, he packs his shit and runs... Can't believe the little brat was ever compared to Lockyer, what and insult

I don't think he cracked the sads, the guy just got an offer too good to refuse. I don't get the anger, i think we dodged a bullet. I was more pissed off when players like Winterstein, Tate and Kemp (to the warriors) left.

Prince was a no brainer, just fell in our laps at minimal cost.

You can't buy in a captain that the playing group respects.

It has to come from within.

Glenn, Thaiday, Parker, while all respected, aren't playmaking halves.

None of the spine of the team are leadership material.
if it's smith you can. Half our team has already been captained by him or played against him captaining Australia. Otherwise you get a 'general' half to act as captain with thaiday keeping the title. In a few years give that half the captaincy too. I am really baffled by the fact that prince isn't given the reins over Wallace. Maybe Wallace won't accept playing second fiddle anymore? Either way Wallace should not be the spinal 'captain' when prince calls plays they are generally much more diverse and appropriate

Where to after 2013 ?? Same team, same coach, same game plan =21012,2013.Lord help us. Board have given Hook thumbs up for another year what phuket games have they been watching from the last 2 years.:scared: Under 20 players don't have anything special for the next 2 years at least. We signed a prop for next year WOW that's encouraging. CMON Bronco fans and sponsors deserve better than sitting on our hands and wait n see what happens next year. Alfie,Webke and Tallis mite have to come out of retirement.

I am really disheartened in the way the broncs are going, it really seem the only answers you get from them are excuses.

'Despite the boys suffering a heavy defeat to the Storm last Friday the score line didn't reflect their efforts. We had five or six opportunities to score which were denied by superb Storm defence and we conceded most of our points late as the boys began tire from a big two weeks on the road.'
That quote came from the members mail i got today, couldn't believe what i was reading, at least take fucking ownership of the failures!

We also had to let go gagai who definitely has the X factor. He scored some amazing tries in his short time with the broncs. We wouldn't even know the word maranta if gagai was still around

What exactly is untrue about that quote?

Nothing.

However, the Broncos should save the excuses and simply put their hand up.

I feel as if the boys have spent more time making excuses for themselves lately rather than taking ownership. It's a complete 180 on what Hook was like in 2011.

That's when he was still rough on the boys despite only losing by a point.

Chose to, not had to.

It is nothing but spin. Fair enough it is not a blatant lie or anything, but they are making out that it was a contest which it clearly wasn't. It seems to be the way of the broncos at the moment to avoid the issue and say effort etc is there when it really looks like it isn't.

That's exactly how I saw the contest, and I have the posts on this forum to prove it.
This is a mail to the members, which reflects what happened on the field, nothing more.

I do however agree with BP that the boys can't allow themselves to use these type of excuses in their preparation of each and every game!

Fair enough. I agree totally with that comment also, that was in a sense what I was trying to get across.

who cares what an email from teh broncos media team says, really.

It struck me today that the Broncos are virtually the only team in the competition WITHOUT a dedicated second grade side. And I think this is starting to work against us. Our second string players are spread across a number of clubs - different coaches, different systems, different club cultures. And we wonder why we're not developing new players. At the same time the club seems to be relying on bring through players internally, they've nobbled the avenues for developing players.

how many train with the first grade squad week in week out though? i dont think it would make alot of difference once you're training full time with the firsts.

Adds to the 'bring back reserve grade' argument. But I would very scared watching THAT team being our feeder.

My own views on the topic though (Spoiler: I still rate Norman): I agree with Beads in the whole Norman-to-Parra-via-Prince situation. He knew once Prince signed that he was back to a 'maybe' prospect for the halves. I still maintain the halves should've been Hunt and Norman for this year and next at least. I think the other thing that contributed to Norman's downfall as such was the coaching. He was coached out of passing after being told to back himself with his semi-decent running game (at 5/8th). Any decent attack coach (someone like Locky would be ideal) would've told him to trust his backs and give them good, early (or late) ball with smart selective passing.

Also is it a coincidence that Glenn's form has gone down without Norman passing him the ball this year? I don't think so. Now he's being decoy-ed out by Prince passing to Norman instead of being given the ball like Norman did for him last year.

Our forwards are as good as any and will only get better, we just need McGuire and Hannant on the field at the same time, allowing Sam to go back to 2nd row. Gillo can come on after 20 and be at his damaging best for the next 50-60, perhaps alternating with Glenn. Cozza is our rock, I hope we can replicate him soon before he goes too grey. Dodds slowly coming along, interested to see how he goes at Lock this week. Hala needs some anger and aggression in him, hopefully he and Tasi can be our wrecking balls. Defence is pretty shoddy, but Kearney's the defence coach, so there's that. He needs to go. NOW. Bring in Tunza or Gillmeister (if he's not at the Titans) to show the guys how to hit players and make sure they stay hit.

A bit of rambling, it'll get picked apart sure, but hopefully hits near the mark on a few points

Don't Glenn and prince (last year Norman) play on opposite sides of the field?

well glenn plays left and prince plays right. i would like to see the halves 'roam' a little more anyway.

i would definitely like to see glenn hitting more holes on the angle but to do that the centre/fb need to be options as well.
