Dane is a true Rugby League man. Loads of Q Cup experience and a handful of NRL games at the Knights as a halfback when Joey was injured.

Has achieved a lot off the field with Jamaica Rugby League and work with other emerging nations like Vanuatu and more.

Lives and breathes the game. Smart guy, and can identify talent. Has ties to Dave Donaghy, so no surprises to see him linked to us.
 
I’ve always rated Piakure and despite his current flaws, I do think under the right circumstances he will develop into a very solid 2nd row - potentially even origin level, eventually.

He has a lot of maturing to do as a player. Give him 3-5 more years and I think he’ll be great.

He represents everything that’s wrong with our squad though - given too much money too young, got consistent NRL time too soon, all off the back of what he might be at 25+ years old.

Happy to move him on for a more established back rower - happy to miss out on whatever he ends up becoming
 
@Smokin' Joe I was told by my mate Dane first saw Finefeuiaki playing at a schoolboy game in Ipswich, liked what he saw then got him up to Townsville for a weekend and signed him on the spot. Finefeuiaki apparently is very close to Campbell. Shame for you blokes he is tied up with the Phins for a few more years.

Dane lives eats and breathes Rugby League. It’s what the club desperately needs - more footballers. Not suits.

I’d do that whether we got Dave or not. Why you talking like it’s the end of the world.
 
Further info from my man on the ground in the Burrow on the Souths offer to Cobbo: 2 year deal, opportunity to go back to Qld for personal time (not impacting on training committments) and mentoring from GI. A growing confidence from within Souths that Wayne will get his man.
