@Sproj, I just fond the rules. here is the rule regarding Migrant players playing in the NSW / QLD cup comps

NSW Cup and Queensland Cup: The player must be aged 24 or under at the point of application and the player has played in 75% matches including play off matches, but not pre-season matches, in the last Season (if the application is made before the End of Season Registration Date) or the current Season (if the application is made after the End of Season Registration Date) (i.e. if the application is made on or before 2nd August 2024, the 2023 season and, if the application is made after 2nd August 2024, the 2024season)

Ahh I see, so Madden would be too old. Thanks for finding that.

There are a few who really have become stars over there:
French, Field, Hurrell, Croft, Ese'ese, Mago, Parcell, Keighran, Dufty, Sironen
And how many of those guys played 50% of the NRL games the year before.

Sironen and Hurrell probably closest, but Sironen was injured for like 2yr straight before heading over and I think Hurrell tried playing NRL again, but looked like he couldn't keep up anymore and went back over to ESL.

I believe this is a new policy (starting in 2024) ... most of those players probably pre-dated the policy

I figured that was probably the case, but more pointing out that they may not have had those players who have become stars if the rule was applied.

Basically means there is now a risk that guys like that, who might want to head to ESL, now can't... so their league will now be worse because of it.

further reading the document and I think it is based on the UK government working visa rules.

the document starts with "This guidance is to be used for all International Sportsperson governing body endorsementrequests made on or after the 4 January 2024"

if it was just for the English Super League, they probably would have used Rugby League Player instead of International Sportsperson

Well no wonder ESL is losing money... they're entirely reliant UK producing players and the pathways aren't there.

And their very best players still come to Aus.

Even so, it is still a better game to watch the NRL.

A starting second rower for the worst backrow in the comp... minimum wage or keep walking
Easily the shittest back row in the comp.
And he is the shittest back rower on the team. No wage. Pay the club for the privilege

Reports that the Cowboys are considering Billy Walters or Tannah Boyd to replace Robson.

also reports that Souths and the Phins have ruled out making an offer to Cobbo. both Wayne and Terry Reader cite salary cap constraints

Well we know Wayne speaks nothing but the truth

We really need to recruit at least one dangerous back rower. I cant recall a time we have looked so poor in that position.

We need to stand strong on Paynes next contract because we cant keep spending massive money on the likes of him, Mam and Walsh because we are scared to lose these so called marquee players. The Walsh deal looks terrible right now and we gave it to him on the back of a year where he didnt improve on his previous year ( not all his fault to be fair either in that regard ). We need to start recruiting in our weaker areas.

Fifita off contract the end of this year?
Might be worth a chat if the tits continue this way the rest of the year.

We do need to make some tough decisions. I’d let Kobe, Gosiewski and Paix go. Obviously Baker will be gone as well. But in Kobe, Paix and Gosiewski, you have three starters there but we can cover them all and you would imagine for the four players above, it would free up a million or so.
